About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Royal Mail Cart; it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot in Spalding, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, it's got this fresh, reinvented feel since the new owners took over, making it a proper haven for families and dog owners alike. The food stands out as a real winner – think mouthwatering roasts that are cooked just right, with rave reviews about the beef and those tasty potatoes that leave you wanting more. Pair that with super attentive staff who go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, and you've got a spot that's buzzing with positive energy, especially when you're watching the game in their well-equipped sports bar or enjoying the outdoors in the beer garden. On the flip side, it's a shame about the opening hours; being shut on Mondays and Tuesdays means it's not always an option for a spontaneous catch-up, and the food service wraps up early on some days, so you'd want to plan around that to avoid disappointment. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening or a family meal, and with such high ratings, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep an eye on the schedule to make the most of it!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially those Sunday roasts – perfectly cooked beef and delicious sides like cauliflower cheese that you'd go back for again and again.
  • The staff are so friendly and welcoming; they make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's brilliantly family and dog-friendly, with a great kids' play area and spacious beer gardens that are perfect for a relaxed day out.
  • Loads of entertainment options like a sports bar with Sky and BT sports, pool table, and darts – ideal for catching up with mates over a pint.
  • Plenty of parking and accessible facilities, including wheelchair access, which makes it easy for everyone to enjoy a visit.
Cons
  • It's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which might cramp your plans if you're looking for a mid-week pint.
  • Food service is limited on certain days, so you might need to check ahead if you're hoping for a meal outside of the main hours.
  • While the atmosphere is generally lovely, it can feel a bit subdued during quieter times, as noted in one review for a more sombre occasion.

Came here for a roast dinner, which was everything I hoped. The staff were lovely. There was ample parking and it is dog friendly.

We were lost in Spalding in stumbled across this fantastic pub. The food was quite incredible - normally Sunday roast Beef is cremated to hell but this was cooked perfectly - the cauliflower cheese was to die for, and whatever those potatoes are cooked in is delicious. The service was fantastic- there was a large table before us and they warned us it might take a little longer but this wasn’t the case and the food was served very quickly. An absolute gem of a pub and I certainly will visit again when I’m up that way.

Booked a table for 13 people. The waitress Marija was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Meals all came out together and were fresh and delicious. Absolutely no complaints from any of us. Will definitely be coming again and highly recommend. All in all great experience.

Sadly attended a wake which is why the atmosphere is not rated so highly. The buffet was excellent and contained a wide variety of food all of which was well cooked and or displayed. They catered for several dietary requirements for different guests and also provided cartons so people could take some food with them when they left. Highly recommend as a venue.
