About This Pub

Ah, The Round Bush – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air, tucked away in the heart of Hertfordshire. From what I've gathered from the reviews and their own website, it's all about that warm, inviting atmosphere in a historic 17th-century building, where you can kick back with a pint of carefully crafted beer or a fine Guinness. The food is a real highlight; folks rave about the traditional hearty dishes, juicy steaks, fresh fish, and that renowned Sunday roast, all made with the freshest local ingredients. It's clear the team puts a lot of heart into it, with daily specials and options for vegetarians and little ones, making it super accessible for groups. Service-wise, it's spot on – stories of kind, quick staff who handle events like baptisms with ease really stand out, and it's dog-friendly too, which is always a plus for us pub lovers. On the flip side, while the portions are generous and the experience is generally excellent, some have mentioned it's a bit pricier than your average local, so it might not be the go-to for a cheeky cheap night out. Overall, though, it's a cracking choice if you're after good vibes, tasty grub, and a place that feels like home – I'd say give it a try, especially if you've got the family in tow or fancy a spot in the beer garden on a sunny day.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty traditional dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients that really hit the spot.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to make sure everyone feels welcome and looked after.
  • It's a proper family-friendly spot with a spacious beer garden, complete with a kids' play area, perfect for a relaxed day out.
  • Lovely atmosphere in this charming 17th-century country pub, set in a great location in Hertfordshire, making it feel like a real neighbourhood gem.
  • They've got a diverse menu with options for all tastes, including vegetarian choices, kids' meals, and even non-alcoholic drinks, so there's something for everyone.
Cons
  • Prices can be a tad on the higher side for some items, like the Sunday lunch, which might make you think twice if you're watching the pennies.
  • The pub seems to have a few inconsistencies in its operating details online, which could confuse things when you're trying to plan a visit.

Decent Sunday lunch though a little more expensive than average. Good size portion for the kids meal. Parking at the front and on the side. Good service. Had a back garden and kids play equipment - climbing frame, slide and swings. Few non-alcoholic options

Absolutely love the Round Bush Pub, I have always had amazing service and amazing food. The staff are extremely kind and friendly and quick to help with any requests, the food is always absolutely exquisite, and its always a joy to be inside as it's so beautiful! It is always a good day when I have dined at the Round Bush pub, and I have taken several of my friends there and they have loved it too and subsequently brought their families with them to also experience it! Would really recommend, beautiful pub in a beautiful location and truly amazing service. Thank you all so much for all you do!

We recently hired the back room at The Roundbush for our daughter’s baptism reception, and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. We had 34 adults and 7 children in our group. From start to finish, the staff were incredible. We planned it with Shannon and she couldn’t have been more accommodating and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was outstanding – we all had the roast dinner (as it was a Sunday), which was absolutely delicious, with perfectly cooked meats and all the trimmings. They also catered wonderfully for a mix of vegetarians, vegans and children, ensuring that everyone in our group was well looked after. Just a special add that the Guinness here is exceptional, with some avid fans of the black stuff in our group pleasantly impressed! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was impeccable. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion. Highly recommend The Roundbush to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a lovely venue. Thanks again Shannon, Tony and Erika.
