About This Pub

Oh, I've got to tell you about The King Stag – it's this lovely spot in Bushey that's really come into its own under the new Harman Brothers management. From what I've seen in the reviews, the food is a real highlight; people are raving about the roasts and steaks, with one chap even calling his meal the best of the year so far. The staff sound like absolute gems, always smiling and going the extra mile, like with those complimentary drinks on special occasions. It's got that cosy, welcoming vibe that's just perfect for a Sunday lunch or a chilled evening. On the flip side, the hours can be a bit tricky to navigate, and with prices on the moderate side, it might not be the cheapest option if you're just after a simple drink. Still, with such glowing feedback from folks who've been recently, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep an eye on when they're open to avoid any disappointment.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious roasts, juicy steaks, and lovely desserts that leave you wanting more.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a cosy, calm atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed meal or a catch-up with mates.
  • Under the new management, they've really upped their game, with thoughtful touches like complimentary drinks that make every visit special.
  • With a solid 4.5 rating from loads of happy visitors, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a great experience overall.
Cons
  • The operating hours can be a bit confusing and seem limited in parts, which might mean you have to plan your visit carefully.
  • As it's under new management, things might still be settling in, so there could be the odd inconsistency here or there.
  • With a moderate price tag, it might feel a tad pricey for a casual pint if you're just popping in for a quick one.

Went for Father’s Day and they really looked after us from start to finish. Started with a complimentary drink for me(dad). Food was delicious and service was incredibly attentive. Already booked to go back.

Just had Sunday lunch on Father’s Day. Excellent meal! Very attentive and polite staff. Recommend the 8 hour cooked roast lamb with cauliflower cheese side - delish! note: Under new management since beginning of June

New light through old windows! A lovely welcome from Freddie, Beth, Phoebe and all the staff (you know who you are!) on the reopening of the King Stag under new management. Still a friendly local pub, now an offshoot of the Royal Oak on Watford Heath, in itself a great venue. Haven't tried the food as yet, although the menu is very tempting! Enjoyed a few glasses of beer and house wine in a very convivial environment. 10/10 to the new owners and we wish them every success. Cheers! John and Sha 👍

Food was absolutely fantastic. Best meal I’ve had so far this year. Pub is nice and cosy too, friendly staff and reasonable beer selection.
