About This Pub

Oh, the Rose & Crown – it's one of those pubs that just wraps you in a warm hug the moment you step inside, with its old-school oak beams and that inviting bay window peering out onto Church Street. I've heard from mates who've popped in that the staff are absolute stars, always cheerful and ready to sort you out, whether it's rearranging tables for a big group or helping with a last-minute favour. The Sunday roasts are a real treat, full of flavour and served in a family-friendly atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with friends over a pint. And if you're fancying a stay, the boutique rooms sound delightful, with their unique designs and little luxuries like free WiFi and a residents' terrace for a quiet drink. On the downside, it's a shame the opening hours aren't more straightforward, so you might want to double-check before heading over, and those room rates could add up if you're planning a budget trip. All in all, it's a solid spot for a proper British pub experience, with plenty of heart and a few quirks that keep it real.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make everyone feel right at home, whether you're just nipping in for a pint or staying overnight.
  • The food is spot on, especially the Sunday roasts – proper hearty fare that's always a hit with groups and families.
  • It's got that classic old-world charm with a cosy log fire, a snug area for intimate chats, and a giant bay window overlooking the bustle of Church Street.
  • The boutique rooms are a lovely touch if you're after a stay; they're spacious, well-appointed with en-suite bathrooms and smart TVs, and perfect for a comfortable night in London.
Cons
  • The operating status seems a bit unclear at times, which might leave you scratching your head about when it's open for a visit.
  • Room prices can be on the higher side, starting from around £110, so it might not suit those watching their pennies for an overnight stay.

I highly recommend a stay at this Guest House. All the staff were so cheerful dynamic and accommodating to our needs. We were travelling to our daughter's wedding nearby and all rooms were reserved for us. The hosting was excellent as they made us feel at home. The pub downstairs has very good food. They are dog friendly downstairs and child/baby friendly everywhere .The continental breakfast included in the stay was faultless and plenty. The rooms are well decorated in excellent condition and super clean. Great bedding and plump pillows. Coffee and tea making facilities. Bathroom was good and well provided for toiletries and towels. Fresh flowers to welcome us were delightful as it was the welcoming note from Kate. It was a great experience and I hope to go back.

Really nice boutique style rooms and enjoyed the continental breakfast. Absolutely incredible customer service. I needed a favour for part of my brother's wedding and they sorted it for me. Saved the speech. Highly recommend.

Loved our stay at the Rose and Crown. I stayed with my two children in the deluxe room and we had the best time. The room was comfortable, there was a lovely terrace for residents only to enjoy drinks, and it was great to be able to eat in the pub downstairs. There’s buses just outside to take you into the centre of London but we also enjoyed hanging out in Clissold Park and Church St. would highly recommend.

Fantastic spot for a Sunday roast with the friendliest staff around! My friends and I had a reservation for a group of 15, but due to some unexpected delays, we arrived half an hour late. Despite this, the team went out of their way to rearrange tables so we could stay as long as we needed, even though our time was technically limited. Their kindness and flexibility meant a lot to us. The food was delicious, the service was impressively quick, and the entire staff was incredibly welcoming. Highly recommend!
