About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Red Lion at Moore – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From the moment you step in, it's all about that homely vibe, with staff who are genuinely friendly and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates. The food really stands out; think hearty roasts, massive portions of fish, and tasty starters that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. It's brilliant for a sunny afternoon in their outdoor area, with those fire pit huts that keep things comfortable no matter the weather. And if you're into a good pint or a glass of wine, they've got some quality options that pair nicely with the grub. On the flip side, it does get heaving at peak times, so you might have to wait a tad for your table or meal, which is understandable but can put a dampener on things if you're in a rush. Also, while it's welcoming overall, the no-dogs policy in the restaurant might not suit everyone, and it's always a good idea to check their hours since they have a day off each week. All in all, it's a solid choice for a bite and a bevvy – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the little niggles, and it's just the sort of place that brings the community together for a proper good time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – home-cooked with locally sourced ingredients, and from what I've heard, the roasts and fish dishes are massive and tasty, making it a real treat for a meal out.
  • It's got a lovely community feel, being a family-run spot that's welcoming to locals and visitors alike, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home.
  • Outdoor seating is brilliant, especially on a sunny day, with options like huts around a fire pit that keep you cosy or shaded – perfect for a relaxed drink or bite.
  • Plenty of parking and a varied menu with good value for money, plus they serve quality beers, ales, and wines that hit the spot.
  • They're dog-friendly in the bar and outside areas, which is great if you're out with your furry friend, and the overall atmosphere is clean and inviting.
Cons
  • It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends or for events like Mother's Day, so you might end up waiting a bit for your food or a table.
  • Dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant section, which could be a downside if you're hoping to dine inside with your pet, though guide dogs are welcome.
  • The operating hours might vary, and with one day closed a week, it's worth checking ahead to avoid disappointment if you're planning a visit.
  • While the overall rating is solid, there might be the odd inconsistency in service or experience based on busier times, as not every visit seems to be perfect.

Met a friend here for a Friday afternoon glass of wine. There is a great outdoor seating area, plenty of parking and the service was great. The food looked really good so we will have to come back.

Booked a table for Mothers Day Sunday lunch. Roast dinner was exceptional will be calling back again for sure. Waited a short while for the meals but really busy so half expected. Definitely worth the wait and worth every penny too. Friendly staff and nice little place. 👍

Truly amazing! Finally managed to visit the Red Lion. My girlfriend & I ordered different dishes. She had liver & I had fish. We had a couple of spring rolls as a starter - wow so tasty & massive. Our main meals were delicious, my medium fish was so big it only just fitted on the plate! Both meals were cooked to perfection. The waitresses were attentive & so friendly. We didn't have room for a desert but next time. The bill was more than reasonable. We will be seeing more of the Red Lion. Five stars is not enough for this amazing place. The chef must be a perfectionist. Thank you Red Lion for a memorable lunch.

Came here with my work for a meal and drinks. We all sat out in the courtyard which I thought was very nice. There were all these huts around a fire pit and the they were all shielded from the sun which was great as it was a super hot day. They did also have heaters underneath all of them so would be a great place to sit out on a cold day as well. The food came out and it looked amazing. I ordered the 8oz ribeye steak.
