About This Pub
Ah, The Sloop Inn – it's one of those neighbourhood spots that really grows on you if you're after a laid-back evening with mates. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are top-notch, always friendly and making sure everyone feels welcome, which is just what you want in a pub. It's brilliant for a laugh with the locals, and the cheap beer prices mean you can enjoy a few without worrying too much about the tab. Plus, with darts, pool, and Sky Sports on offer, it's got that proper pub feel, and the family room and outside area make it versatile for different occasions, like a casual family gathering or even something special like a gender reveal. On the flip side, though, it's not without its downsides – some folks have mentioned it's a bit grubby, with sticky tables and carpets that look like they haven't been touched in a while, which does take away from the charm. The whole place could do with a good refurb to spruce it up, as it feels a tad outdated and not the cleanest, so you might want to stick to drinks rather than risking food. Overall, it's a solid 4.1 rating spot that's worth a visit if you're in Great Sankey, but go in with realistic expectations – it's a honest, no-frills boozer that shines on atmosphere but falls short on upkeep.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, always with a warm welcome and a smile.
-
It's got a really friendly atmosphere where you can have a good laugh with the locals, perfect for a casual night out.
-
Beer prices are spot on – cheaper than most places around Warrington, making it a great spot for a pint without breaking the bank.
-
Loads of fun things to do like darts and pool, plus they've got Sky Sports for catching the games, and a nice family room for when you're with the little ones.
-
The outside area is brilliant for a smoke or enjoying a drink in the summer sun, and it's handy for events like gender reveals.
Cons
-
The place can feel a bit neglected, with carpets that haven't seen a hoover in ages and sticky tables that could do with a good clean.
-
It desperately needs a refurb – the bar and general setup look tired and not very inviting, which might put some off.
-
Hygiene's a concern; it's not the cleanest spot, so I'd steer clear of ordering anything beyond a draft beer to be safe.
-
Prices might not feel as cheap to everyone, especially if you're expecting bargains across the board in Warrington.

Had my niece's gender reveal here, nice wee local pub, staff are lovely and welcoming x
A great friendly atmosphere. Was having a good laugh with the locals, first time I'd ever been there 👍
Wouldn't come back..place is extremely dirty, carpets which haven't seen hoover for a while, tables are sticky and place in general needs to be refurbished..bar doesn't look clean either and I wouldn't risk to order anything else but draft beer! Not cheap- just average prices for warrington
The landlord and staff here are great! Everyone is so friendly! Cheaper beer than anywhere and great for darts and pool. There is a family room too, which is lovely for children. The outside is superb for smoking and summer too!
Atmosphere OK and a great pint of Guinness. Also have sky sports. Could do with some real ales but aside from that a good honest boozer. Worth a visit.
