About This Pub
Ah, The Red Lion – it's one of those neighbourhood gems that really pulls you in with its rustic charm and that fresh makeover it's had. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at home, whether you're popping in for a quick coffee or hosting something special like a baby shower. The food's a highlight too; think hearty British dishes with big portions that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank, and they've got options for the little ones as well, which is brilliant if you're out with family. That beer garden and outdoor space are just perfect for summer evenings, and in the colder months, the open fire creates such a cosy spot to unwind with a pint of real ale or catch up on the latest match. On the flip side, I've noticed a wee inconsistency with the operating hours – it says it's closed in some places, but the website paints a different picture, so you'd want to double-check before heading over to avoid any disappointment. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, and while it's not without its quirks, the positives far outweigh any niggles, making it a place I'd happily recommend for a good laugh and a bite to eat with mates.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and helpful, making every visit feel welcoming and personal.
-
The food is spot on, with generous portions and delicious options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even kids' menus, offering great value for money.
-
It's a proper family-friendly spot with a lovely beer garden, outdoor play area, and cosy nooks inside, perfect for all seasons.
-
The atmosphere is just right, whether you're enjoying a pint by the open fire in winter or soaking up the sun outside in summer, with live music and entertainment adding to the fun.
-
They've got a solid selection of real ale and drinks, plus handy extras like Wi-Fi and HD screens for catching the match.
Cons
-
There seems to be a bit of confusion around opening hours, as some info suggests it might be closed when the website says otherwise, which could put a dampener on plans.
-
It's more of a traditional pub vibe, so if you're after something ultra-modern or quiet, it might not quite hit the mark.

Held my daughter’s Baby shower here Saturday. The staff were amazing! The food was amazing! Highly recommend anyone who’s looking to host a special occasion.
I'm don't drink alcohol, but the gent behind the bar helped me out when I desperately needed the bathroom, I had a bit of time so sat down and had a coffee, and it was a good coffee with good friendly service, I'd be more than happy to recommend the Red Lion and happy to come back here.
Delicious food! Great portions! Value for money. Amazing atmosphere and fast service.
Breakfast superb, lunch and dinner.
Amazing place to stay for a short visit. Highly recommend!
Stopped in for a quick nibble and the hair of a dog after a heavy session last night, needless to say, I'm absolutely hanging out of my backside. Anyway, back to The Red Lion...
It's a lovely, big, family pub with an outdoor garden and play area for kids. I had two cold pints and a chicken, bacon and brie ciabatta. Very tasty and came with chips 😁
The staff is very friendly, next I come I'll bring the family 👍👍👍
A warm corner pub with nice tap. Makes a slamming gin and tonic. Satisfying bags of crisps (chips). Does food too. Indoor and outdoor seating, with a playground out back for kids and families (!). TVs carry a good match. Americans remember you don’t need to tip.
