About This Pub
Ah, The Queens Head – it's one of those timeless Soho spots that's been pouring pints since 1736, and it really shows in the best way. I love how it maintains that independent, family-like feel, offering a solid range of real ales and other beverages that you won't find in the chain pubs. The staff are just lovely, always on hand with a smile and quick service, which makes popping in for a drink after work or meeting friends on a Saturday night an absolute pleasure. It's got this relaxed, welcoming vibe that's hard to beat in the hustle of central London. On the downside, with the kitchen closed for good, you're limited to drinks only, so if you're peckish, you'll need to plan ahead and grab some food elsewhere. Plus, it does fill up quickly, especially during peak times, and while the ground floor buzzes with energy, the upstairs might not always hit the mark for a full pub experience. All in all, it's a top choice for a proper London boozer if you're after good drinks and a bit of history, but just keep those potential niggles in mind for a smoother visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is spot on – it's welcoming and relaxed, making it a brilliant spot for a catch-up with mates.
-
The staff are absolute gems; they're attentive, friendly, and really add to the overall charm of the place.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of beers, including quality real ales and other classics like Peroni, which is always a treat.
-
Its historic roots from 1736 give it that authentic London pub feel, and it's conveniently tucked away near Piccadilly Circus.
Cons
-
The kitchen is permanently closed, so you're out of luck if you're hoping for a proper meal alongside your drinks.
-
It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends in central London, which might make it tricky to find a seat.
-
Some areas, like the upstairs room, don't quite capture the same lively vibe as the ground floor, feeling a bit underwhelming at times.

Brilliant pub! I asked AI for a recommendation of where to meet friend near Piccadilly Circus on a Saturday night, and it recommended this. I was a bit dubious given the size (Small pub, on a Saturday, in central London? Surely jampacked?!) but it was perfect! The atmosphere is great, as are the drinks, and the staff are super friendly, whilst also providing excellent service. This will now be my go-to pub for meeting people in that area, or just dropping in for a quick drink if I am nearby. It's a gem!
Star of the show was the service. The staff is great.
Guinness was fine, not the best, far from the worst. Ambiance is very unique, top floor was boring and not quite a pub experience, but ground floir was great. Although it was my only time there, I think it greatly depends on the people there.
But overall, I'd go back for the quality of the service. Bartender were smiling, enjoying their time as well and it gave off very good vibes!
I'd recommend.
One of my favourite spots in central London! I stop by this pub every day after work, and it never disappoints. Whether I’m having a cold Peroni or a Mahou, the atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxed. The staff here really make the place special Emily, Katie, Jackie, Nivole, Delan, Mustapha are all absolutely fantastic. They’re friendly, attentive, and always up for a good chat. Highly recommend if you're looking for a local with great vibes, great beer, and even better people. For me it’s the best place to chill.
Devonshire was far too packed so came here and it was a really nice vibe. Staff were super attentive & quick and there was a place to sit despite a busy day and the top of the pub being booked out.
They had a gluten free beer (Daura) which was great!
The Queens Head on the corner of Denman Street is a Soho institution, great beer both from the cask and the keg. The staff are lovely and service swift and smooth. Busy on a Wednesday evening with loads of people having fun. Super place for a pint. 🙃
