About This Pub
Ah, The Prince Albert – it's one of those Brixton gems that just draws you in with its unpretentious charm. I have to say, what really stands out is how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome; they're always smiling and remember your usual order, which adds such a personal touch. The atmosphere is spot on too, with its cosy setup and that brilliant beer garden for soaking up the sun or enjoying a quiet chat. They've got a great selection of drinks at prices that feel fair, and the occasional events like Pride tie-ins make it feel like a proper community hub. On the flip side, though, it's adults-only, so if you've got little ones in tow, you'll have to look elsewhere. It's more about the pints and pub grub than a full-blown dinner, and it can get buzzing – especially with those late-night music sessions – which might not suit if you're after something mellow. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening; I'd pop in for a drink any day, but just keep in mind it shines brightest for those casual, grown-up meet-ups.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home – it's like popping in to see old mates.
-
It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere with stripped wood floors, ambient lighting, and vibrant artwork that gives it a stylish yet relaxed vibe.
-
Affordable drinks and prices that won't break the bank, perfect for a casual catch-up or a quick pint after work.
-
The beer garden is a real gem, especially on a sunny day, offering a peaceful spot to unwind with a drink.
-
They host fun events like Pride celebrations and music nights, adding a bit of excitement and community spirit to the mix.
Cons
-
It's strictly for those 18 and over due to licensing, so it's not the spot if you're looking for a family-friendly outing.
-
The focus is more on drinks than a full menu, which might disappoint if you're after a hearty meal rather than just tipples and snacks.
-
It can get a bit lively with music nights going on till the early hours, so if you're after a quiet evening, it might not always hit the mark.
-
Being in the heart of Brixton, it could feel a tad crowded during peak times, making it tricky to find a seat.

Lovely pub, and a regular haunt for us . As we live few mins down the road .
Always good to see what's going on and have a couple of drinks .
we are always warmly greeted by all the staff there and made to feel welcome especially by Ram, who always knows our usual tipple too !!!!!
Prince Albert in Brixton is a historic, old-style pub that has become a true landmark in the area. With its private garden at the back, it’s the perfect spot to relax with a beer or a drink while enjoying some casual snacks. The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious, and prices are very affordable, making it a favorite among locals. What really sets Prince Albert apart is its deep connection to reggae culture — especially old-school reggae, which continues to attract devoted fans. If you’re into reggae vibes and want to experience a slice of Brixton’s musical heritage, Prince Albert is absolutely worth a visit.
So far I have had a lovely time at this pub. I accidentally left my card and the barstaff Maya and Cory made sure to look after it. They were great and are always hardworking. They always have a big smile. The kindest pub I have been to.
I really enjoyed my quick.visit here soaking up the sun.
I had a Hazy Day for £6.50 that was very good. No drama to try before I bought.
