About This Pub

Ah, The Plough Inn – it's one of those unassuming spots that really grows on you, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place does a cracking job with its rooms; they're clean as a whistle, comfy, and packed with handy touches like tea-making kits and fluffy towels, making it ideal for a quick overnight if you're exploring the East Midlands. The staff sound like a delight – always up for a chat and bending over backwards to help, which gives it that warm, community feel you'd expect from a proper English pub. Location-wise, it's spot on, just off the main roads and close to lovely spots like the Grand Union Canal or the National Space Centre, with free parking thrown in for good measure. But, let's be honest, it's not without its downsides; the food options are pretty basic, just a burger van on site, so if you're after a hearty dinner or breakfast, you'll have to venture out, which might not suit everyone. Still, with solid ratings and glowing reviews about the service and value, I'd say it's worth a punt if you're after a straightforward, budget-friendly stay – just keep those expectations in check for the grub and you'll have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The rooms are spotlessly clean and really comfortable, with all the essentials like tea and coffee facilities, a hairdryer, and even an iron – perfect for a hassle-free stay.
  • The staff are absolute gems; they're friendly, helpful, and always go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, just like chatting with locals in a proper community pub.
  • It's in a brilliant spot, just a short drive from Leicester city centre and attractions like the knitting museum or the rugby ground, with free parking on site which is a real bonus.
  • Prices are spot on for what you get – affordable rooms that offer great value, especially if you're after a simple, quiet overnight stop.
Cons
  • There's no proper food on offer beyond a burger van, so you might end up needing to pop out for a proper meal, which can be a bit of a faff.
  • No breakfast served, which is a shame if you're hoping for a full English to start your day – you'll have to seek out local spots instead.
  • Pets aren't allowed, so if you're travelling with your furry friend, this might not be the ideal choice and could limit your options.
  • It's a non-smoking environment throughout, which is fine for most, but if you're a smoker, you'll have to step outside, and it might feel a tad restrictive.

Lovely place, clean, orivate and quiet. If you just need a room to sleep in they are just what you need. Only downside is no food, but not far to walk to a couple of places. Good facilities, including iron, hairdryer, kettle and nice fluffy towels Would use again.
