About This Pub
Ah, The Plough & Harrow – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in the quiet village of Whitnash, with its charming Tudor exterior and that timeless country inn vibe. I love how it's steeped in history yet keeps things lively with friendly faces, a cracking selection of ales, and all the trimmings of a traditional English spot. The Sunday roasts are a real highlight, with hearty portions and flavours that hit the spot, and it's brilliant for families or if you're bringing the dog along, thanks to the spacious beer garden and kids' play area. Plus, there's always something fun on, whether it's catching the latest match on TV or joining in with quiz nights and games like pool or darts. That said, it's not all perfect – I've heard a few grumbles about the food not always being as fresh as you'd hope, with some sides feeling a bit shop-bought rather than homemade, so you might want to play it safe with the mains. Overall, though, it's a welcoming place that does the basics brilliantly and makes for a lovely escape from the hustle, especially on a sunny afternoon. If you're in Leamington Spa, it's definitely worth popping in for a pint and seeing what all the fuss is about.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's got that wonderful historic charm of a 17th-century country inn, making you feel right at home in the heart of Shakespeare Country.
-
The drinks selection is spot on, with perfectly poured pints, craft ales, and a good variety of spirits and wines to suit any taste.
-
Friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere – you'll find the staff and regulars make it a proper local spot for a chat and a laugh.
-
They do a cracking job with traditional English fayre, especially the Sunday lunch, which comes with generous portions and tasty meats.
-
Family and pet-friendly vibes, with a large beer garden that includes a play area for kids and even treats for dogs – ideal for a sunny day out.
-
Plenty of entertainment on offer, like live music, quiz nights, pool, darts, and showing sports such as football and rugby, so there's always something going on.
Cons
-
Some dishes can fall short on freshness, like the veggies or sides that might seem a bit pre-packaged, which could disappoint if you're after homemade quality.
-
The food experience isn't always consistent, as a few folks have mentioned underwhelming meals that don't live up to the pub's charming setting.
-
Being unclaimed on Google might mean it's not as polished online, so you could miss out on the latest updates or special events if you're planning ahead.

Great little local. TV's for sport, pool table & dart board. Very friendly service. Just want you want from a local pub.
Our first visit for Sunday lunch today and it was excellent! Nice and hot and great portions. We had 3 meats. Good price too! We will be back.
Incredibly disappointing experience overall. While the beef was undeniably tender and enjoyable, everything else fell flat. The meal featured tinned potatoes, frozen carrots, and a reheated Yorkshire pudding, all of which were lacklustre and lacked any freshness. To make matters worse, the entire plate was lukewarm at best, which completely ruined the anticipation of a proper meal. Such a letdown and not worth the visit.
I went here two times and is a nice Pub to stay a little bit. Inside you have different environments, and you can sit outside as well. The bartenders are OK and everything seems clean. I don't tasted the food but as far I saw from other tables have good aspect.
Found this little gem of a pub yesterday. Beautiful big garden and play area for the kids. They even blew up a bouncy castle as they saw our children arrive! Reasonable prices too. Will definitely be visiting lots in the summer.
