About This Pub
Ah, The Plough in Wingfield – it's one of those pubs that just warms you up from the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is a standout; people are going on about the home-made dishes like the chicken parmie and those incredible chips, all served up with puddings that sound like they'd make your day. The staff really shine too, always cheerful and ready to lend a hand, which makes for a welcoming spot whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for some bingo or a quiz. Prices are spot on for a local haunt, with reasonably priced drinks and a nice wine choice that doesn't leave you out of pocket. On the flip side, the operating hours look a tad muddled, especially with those repeated Sunday slots, so you might want to double-check before heading over. And without a website, it's a bit of a faff if you're trying to plan ahead or have a peek at the menu online. Overall, though, it's got that classic pub charm that's perfect for a laid-back evening – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as long as you're up for a bit of spontaneity!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious home-cooked meals like that chicken parmie or those chips that folks rave about, all at a great value for money.
-
Staff are brilliant and always up for a chat; they're friendly, helpful, and really make you feel welcome, whether you're there for a quiz or just a pint.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere with things like great music, bingo nights, and afternoon quizzes that keep things lively and fun for a proper local pub feel.
-
Reasonably priced drinks and a good selection of wine, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed evening out without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit confusing with multiple listings, which might make it tricky to know when they're actually open, especially on Sundays.
-
No website or online presence listed, so it's not easy to check the menu or get in touch ahead of time – a bit of a shame in this digital age.
-
With no recent reviews in the last few months, it might feel like the buzz has quieted down, even though the overall rating is solid.

Great night on Friday didn't win at bingo but grabbed a jackpot and had a good time with close family, great music .
Been here two days in a row now for food and absolutely loved it both times.
The food was impeccable, the chips are to die for! Highly recommended!
Can recommend the chicken parmie at the plough. Home cooked and lovely.
Service was good. Good choice of wine. Friendly staff . Good value for money. Perfect menu for a local pub .
Went in for 1st time to do the afternoon quiz. Lovely decor, landlords very friendly n reasonably priced drinks. It was the first afternoon quiz they'd done, and although there wasn't many people in ,it was a great atmosphere. The owners are doing a great job of trying to get people in with lots of different activities eg quizzes, bingo sessions, cribbage and coming soon a race night. A brilliant local pub .
They are now serving great home made food. Eaten here 3 times already. Food is always good. Puddings are amazing. Great value for money. The staff are brilliant , friendly and always happy to help.
