About This Pub

Ah, The Malt and Mardle, what a lovely little find in Norwich! From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, it's got this warm, inviting atmosphere that's just perfect for sinking into a comfy seat with a pint and catching up with friends. The beer selection is spot on – they rotate new brews weekly and even offer tasters, so you can try before you buy without any fuss. The staff come across as genuinely helpful and cheerful, always up for a natter, and that peek into the cellar adds a bit of intrigue to the whole experience. Plus, those sausage rolls sound like a winner if you're peckish. On the flip side, though, it's only open five days a week with fairly late starts, which might mean it's not ideal for a spontaneous daytime visit or if you're out and about on weekends. And being on the smaller side, it could feel a bit snug when it's busy, so you might want to get there early. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a chilled-out pint in a proper local spot – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those opening times in mind to avoid disappointment.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – always something new and exciting on tap, with tasters available to help you choose.
  • It's such a cosy spot, perfect for a relaxed chat with mates in a welcoming environment.
  • The staff are really helpful and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • That glass door to the cellar is a neat touch; it's fascinating to see how the beers are stored and adds to the charm.
  • They've got some tasty extras like those chorizo sausage rolls, which make it more than just a place for a pint.
Cons
  • The opening hours can be a bit limited, mostly evenings and only five days a week, so it might not suit everyone’s schedule.
  • Being a micro pub, space is tight, and it could get a tad crowded on busier nights.
  • There's no phone number listed, which makes it tricky if you need to check something quickly before heading over.

A great little find "on" the beaten track. Accidentally stumbled into this place on our way up to some other pubs. Really nice cozy room with a great beer selection. Towards the back you can see their cellar through glass doors as you sit in their comfortable surroundings. Really nice helpful guy behind the bar. Definitely worth a swift half.

Friendly staff, New beers every week, the perfect place for a cosy pint and a chat with friends! As a keen pubber I have to say this is probably my favourite spot for a quiet drink. Also their chorizo sausage rolls are unbelievable!
