About This Pub

Ah, The Pincushion – it's one of those pubs that just warms you up from the moment you step inside, with staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like you're catching up with old mates. The food's a real highlight; think generous Sunday roasts packed with flavour and plenty on the plate, leaving you wondering how you'll manage it all, and it's often praised for being good value too. Pair that with a decent pint and maybe a quick game of pool, and you've got yourself a proper enjoyable afternoon. On the flip side, though, the prices might nudge a bit steep for what's on offer, so it's worth keeping an eye on your wallet. Plus, with the pub only open a handful of days a week, it can be a bit hit or miss if you're planning a last-minute outing. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in the area and fancy a relaxed spot that's clearly trying to up its game, but just be prepared for those quieter times when it's not buzzing as much.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is spot on, especially the Sunday roasts – plenty of portions and great value, leaving you nicely satisfied.
  • It's a lovely spot for a relaxed pint and a bit of fun, like a game of pool, turning a quick stop into a proper afternoon out.
  • The pub's recently reopened for food and is clearly putting in the effort to improve, which is great to see for a local gem.
Cons
  • Prices can feel a tad high for the type of meals on offer, which might make you think twice if you're watching the pennies.
  • It's only open a few days a week, which is a shame if you're hoping for a spontaneous visit on a quiet evening.
  • There isn't much of an online presence, so it might be tricky to check the latest details before heading over.

Great pub. All the staff were really friendly. Popped in for one drink, ended up having a few, a game of pool and lunch. Shame I’m not local otherwise I’d gladly pop in more often.

My wife and I had a Sunday Roast dinner, we both thoroughly enjoyed it, more than enough on our plates, we could have done with a smaller plated version.

Called in for tea after an afternoon out, service was quick, friendly and efficient. Food was good, tasty and plenty of it. Pub has recently reopened for food and would recommend, good to see a local pub improving 👍. If anything prices were bit high for type of meal, however with everything going up its probably understandable.

Lovely welcome and service. Meal was delicious, the triple fried chips were a wonderful surprise and tasted great. I recommend you visit on an empty stomach to stand any chance of eating all the meal!! Thoroughly enjoyable visit, will definitely go again. Well done Sherry.
