About This Pub
Ah, The Pilgrim – it's one of those timeless spots in Liverpool that just feels like home from the moment you step in. I've got to say, what really stands out is the cracking atmosphere; it's got that authentic, historic charm from its days as a hub for artists and musicians, and it's still pulling in a great crowd after all these years. The drinks selection is spot on too – affordable ales, craft beers, and cocktails that keep things fun without costing a fortune, plus there's that lovely courtyard that's an absolute treat on a sunny day. And if you're into your sports, it's a top choice for watching the footy. But, let's be honest, it does have its downsides; some areas can get pretty loud, making it hard to catch up with mates, and the layout might leave you a bit puzzled with its various nooks and crannies. Oh, and those vintage jukeboxes are more for decoration these days, which is a pity. All in all, it's a solid pick for a casual evening out, as long as you're up for a bit of hustle and bustle – just pop in, grab a drink, and soak up the vibe!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing and full of character, making it a proper Liverpool institution that's perfect for a lively night out.
-
Drinks are spot on – think affordable cask ales, craft beers, and super cheap cocktails that won't break the bank.
-
There's a lovely sun-trap courtyard that's brilliant for enjoying a pint when the weather plays nice.
-
It's a great spot for catching the footy on the TVs, with a real community feel that draws in locals and visitors alike.
Cons
-
It can get a bit too noisy in certain areas, which might make it tricky to have a proper chat over your drink.
-
The layout feels a tad confusing with different levels and sections, so you might end up wandering around a bit.
-
Those old table jukeboxes are just for show now, which is a shame as they don't work anymore.
-
It's not the best place if you're with little ones, as it's more geared towards adults looking for a relaxed adult vibe.

Well established basement boozer serving a few ales along with the usual. It’s had a bit of a polish and looks the better for it. Cracking atmosphere. Outside sheltered seating too. Recommended on a pub crawl of the area. 🍻
My partner and I were in the city for the trophy parade. Had a few beers at The Pilgrim efore heading down to the Strand. Class atmosphere and decent selection of drinks. Only a 4 for the food because we only shared a hot dog. Will definitely be coming back the next time we're in Liverpool!
They've "done it up", I use the term loosely as it looks pretty much like it always did, which is a good thing in my opinion. Where the kitchen used to be there is a bit of a "snug" area, Not sure why they've kept all the broken table juke boxes, could they not have cannibalised them all to make one working model? Otherwise all good, with a mix of drinkers.
Decided to pop in since the reopening. The layout is a bit confusing, however. The Pilgrim seems to be the bit downstairs which was so loud you couldn't have a conversation with anyone. Upstairs, in the Mayflower, was much better. Not sure if this is too different pubs, but in any case, the drinks selection was good in both. The outside space will be great in the summer.
Always a belter. Great, well priced drinks and excellent employees. Not a good place for kids. But definitely a good place to drink, laugh and enjoy.
