About This Pub
Ah, The Pheasant – it's one of those places that sounds promising at first glance, with its solid overall rating and that fresh refurbishment making the space look inviting. I've chatted with a few who've popped in for a pint, and they reckon the beer choices are bang on, offering a nice selection at prices that won't break the bank, which is always a plus for a good evening out. The decor's a real highlight too; it's given the place a warm, modern touch that makes you feel right at home. But, and there's always a but, isn't there? From what I've heard from recent visits, the service can be a right mixed bag – sometimes the staff are spot on and happy to chat about the menu, like the mix of Nepalese and English grub, but other times it feels a bit chaotic, especially when it's heaving and they're short-handed. Then there's the food; it's a shame because the idea of those dishes sounds great, but portions are tiny and the tastes just don't hit the mark, leaving some wishing they'd stuck to the drinks. All in all, it's worth considering if you're nearby and fancy a casual drink, but maybe skip the meal to avoid any letdowns – keep it balanced, as it's got its charms amidst the flaws.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is spot on, with a good variety and prices that feel just right for a decent local spot.
-
The pub's been freshly refurbished, giving it a lovely, welcoming vibe that makes you want to settle in for a chat.
-
Staff can be helpful and friendly at times, especially when they're explaining the menu options like the Nepalese and English dishes.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit or miss, with some staff seeming inexperienced or overwhelmed, leading to long waits on busy days.
-
The food portions are disappointingly small and the flavours come across as bland, which has left a few folks underwhelmed.
-
There's a sense that the place has lost some of its traditional pub charm, with complaints about it feeling more like an unruly club than a relaxed hangout.

First time in this pub in 25 years … so I’m not sure what it was like before they renovated? Anyway it’s a Wednesday , quite a few people in , service was good & staff explained the food choices ( Nepalese & English ) and where to order.
Beer choices are good , prices are standard for a decent pub. Nice and clean , really clean toilets …. Food was fresh and tasted good , great value we thought 👍
Came in with my partner spent £20+ on SMALL rice that went down in a few months fulls, the salad was only onion😭 6 chicken wings 1 lamb chop and 2 piece of chicken and 2 fish. naan bread was tiny was the size of chapati never coming back here the food is bland!!!! 😅we are off to get a maccies on the way home x
Such a shame. The pub has recently been refurbished. The decor is lovely but thats as good as it gets. Service was rubbish. Bits of kids working the bar that didn't have a clue what was going on and definitely not enough staff on. Being the weekend with lovely weather, surely they could presume it would be busy and put enough competent staff on shift. Apparently not. We waited over an hour for our food. When it arrived, the order was wrong and our daughters food was missing. The tables were piled high with dirty plates. None of the tables were being cleaned. We had really looked forward to visiting as it's local with a family garden but we won't be going again. Try somewhere else guys its not worth it unfortunately 😕
Absolutely awful. Turned a pub into an awful club. Genuinely the worst place you can enter in Wednesfield. Try drinking some drain water, you’ll get served within an hour and have a better time.
Popped in for one after hearing good reviews £6.05 for a pint and a half of shandy, it's definitely punching above it's weight class as a local boozer.
The staff seemed more interested moaning about their rota than serving, once the regulars had been served it took them a moment to notice me waiting.
We didn't eat but it's restaurant prices in a pub, much like the drinks.
There were plenty of fans on the go given the weather which was nice and outside seating front and back.
We sat at table one and despite being the middle of the afternoon there was clear snail trails across the carpet which was off putting. Christmas decorations still adorned the light fixtures and what looked like a mothers day decoration illuminating the one wall.
Not somewhere I can see us rushing back.
