About This Pub
Ah, The Park Tavern – it's one of those unpretentious gems in London that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening out. From what folks are saying, the staff really go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're popping in solo or with a big group of friends; I love how they've been so flexible, even letting people bring their own grub since they don't serve food themselves. The drinks selection is spot on, with a solid range including that classic Guinness that's always a winner, and the atmosphere is just right for chatting away or catching the latest game on the telly. It's got that preserved, oldschool charm that reminds you of proper local pubs, which is brilliant if you're after a bit of authenticity. On the flip side, though, the décor does feel a bit dated and could use some updating to make it more inviting for modern tastes, and not having any food options might leave you a tad peckish if you're not prepared. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out, especially if you're in the area and fancy a pint without the fuss – I'd say give it a go if you're nearby, but maybe plan ahead for a bite elsewhere.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The bar staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's got a lovely, traditional oldschool vibe that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
-
They offer a great selection of drinks, including reliably good Guinness and other options to suit most tastes.
-
Super accommodating for groups, even large ones, with fast service and the bonus of letting you bring your own food if needed.
-
The atmosphere is spot on for watching sports on their big TV screen, adding to the fun on match days.
Cons
-
The décor feels a bit tired and could do with a modern update to freshen things up.
-
They don't serve food on-site, which might be a downside if you're after a proper meal with your pint.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what I've seen, so it's worth double-checking before heading out, especially on Sundays.

Wonderful local Pub, recommend 100%
Well done guys.
Great pub. Friendly bar staff. Good mix aged crowd of local people.
Very nice atmosphere. Friendly bar staff and a good range of alcoholic drinks on offer.Décor needs updating. They have a large TV screen in which you can watch sporting events. The Guinness served here trends to be very good
Great selection of drinks and quite a nice quiet pub for the area. We were a group of 15 and the service was fast all night and the staff were very accommodating. Allowed us to bring food as they did not have food themselves and meant we could stay all night which we did! Nice that they also have some benches outside, and they have TVs but they are not the centre of attention.

🍺 £5.80 Moretti
❤️ A preserved oldschool locals pub in Finsbury Park.
.
The Park Tavern is located on Tollington Park just off busy Stroud Green Road. The nearest tube station is Finsbury Park which is a ten minute stroll away.
.
This Victorian pub was built mid 19th century and was remodelled by Charringtons in the 1930’s, it has had a external paint job in recent years to spruce the place up a bit.
.
The decor here is simple with some outstanding pieces of pub architecture and design. This is a traditional Saloon & Public two bar pub which is a rare find as many breweries and pubco’s smashed the B’jasus and gutted the innards of some beautiful pubs losing vital pieces of heritage. The stand out feature for me is the Charringtons back bar which is truly unique and hopefully this is maintained.
.
The beer choice here is simple, I had a pint of Moretti which was great and under six quid.
.
My visit here didn’t start to well, I bowled in the front door and straight in to wake that was going on in the front bar. My Rodders moment over, I proceeded to the back bar to grab a pint. I was served by a lovely lady behind the bar who was cheery and had a lovely manner, I pulled up a pew to sit down and take stock of this N4 boozer.
.
This is a locals pub which has a relaxed laid back feel. As the wake continued in the front bar, the back bar had the horse racing on, a true measure of being in an Irish pub. This pub also shows live footy matches in both bars. There was lots of coming and going between bars and pretty much everybody knew everybody else, a true community pub.
.
The Park Tavern was a fantastic visit for many reasons. The oldschool ambiance took me back thirty years when going to the pub was almost mandatory. The Charringtons back bar was a thing of beauty and should be listed. And finally, the community spirit and local pub feel here is what makes this pub great.
