About This Pub

Ah, The Papermakers Arms – it's one of those pubs that really captures the essence of a good old British local, tucked away in Ilford. I have to say, it's got this warm, inviting vibe that makes you want to settle in for the evening, whether you're catching up with friends over a pint or tuning into live sports on the telly. The pool table adds a fun touch, and from what I've gathered from a few chats, the food can be a real highlight if you're in the mood for something hearty. But, let's keep it real, it's not all perfect – service can drag a bit, with waits for food and drinks that might test your patience, and the bar staff don't always seem clued up on the full range of options. Still, with plenty of positive vibes floating around, it's a decent spot to pop into if you're nearby, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and a bit of flexibility.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got that classic old-school pub charm, making you feel right at home like a proper local spot.
  • The atmosphere is spot on for chilling with mates, especially if you're into watching live sports or having a game of pool.
  • Some folks absolutely love the food and drinks, with a few raving about how tasty and enjoyable it all is.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit unreliable at times, with delays in getting food and drinks served up.
  • The bar team might not be the most knowledgeable about beverages, which could leave you scratching your head over options.
  • There's a sense that the local area has changed, and it might not feel as vibrant as it once did, based on a few mixed experiences.

I think it's permanently closed. The local area has totally changed culturally and this has completely ruined such local businesses due to no community thanks to certain religious beliefs. Ilford was once a very pleasant place. Now it's a run down dump.

If you wanna hangout for live sport. You can choose this place. But the service is too poor and bargirl doesn't know anything about beverages. The food is supplied but it was too delayed. The serving was also impact. The only thing you can play pool while having a beer . A lot to improve
