About This Pub
Ah, The Great Spoon – it's one of those dependable Wetherspoon pubs that always delivers on the basics without fuss. I really appreciate how you can nip in for a hearty breakfast or a few pints at prices that feel like a proper bargain, and the staff are always on the ball, serving up quick smiles and efficient service that makes you feel right at home. There's a nice, lively energy to the place, whether you're tucking into their food specials or just soaking up the atmosphere with a good book or chat. On the downside, the decor's a tad worn and could use a bit of an update to keep things fresh, and it does get a bit boisterous on weekends, so if you're hoping for a quiet corner, you might want to pop by midweek. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after an affordable, no-nonsense spot to unwind, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind for the full picture.

-
A lively atmosphere that's perfect for casual catch-ups or just relaxing with a pint.
-
Wide range of food and drink options, including tasty specials and unlimited hot drinks for a proper treat.
-
Open from early morning until late, so it's spot on for everything from breakfast to evening wind-downs.
Cons
-
The decor is a bit dated and could do with a refresh to make it feel more modern.
-
It can get quite rowdy on weekends, which might spoil the vibe if you're after something more relaxed.
-
The outside area is on the small side, so it's not ideal for those sunny days when you'd fancy a bit more space.

The Great Spoon of Ilford offers classic Wetherspoon value—affordable drinks, quick service, and a lively pub atmosphere. While the decor is dated and weekends can get rowdy, it’s a dependable local spot for casual meetups, hearty meals, and budget-friendly pints.
I expected more from the name, but it was still pleasant.Small outside area too the rear.Great staff and quick service.Ticking another Wetherspoons of my list,so I'd recommend a visit if you're like me and in the area and love all things spoons.
This local pub near our hotel was awesome! So many food offerings and drinks specials ❤️. We went for a late night dinner and back the next day for breakfast. Such a chill vibe, I could have spent half the day just reading, relaxing and people watching. We ordered and paid at the bar and had our food delivered to the table. There’s an app also. Staff were really nice!
Sunday 9th Feb on a cool morning, but i was certainly ready for a spoons value for money breakfast.
I had a traditional breakfast with extra mushrooms and a coffee ( unlimited hot drinks!) for a little over a fiver!
I stayed a while and tried a couple of ales as testers.. I settled for a Yu Lu hazy pale ale by Siren for a bargain £1.99.
Too early for sport on the screen, so i settled for the weather forecast.
An interesting story is available to read on the wall oh how the pub got its namesake name!
Friendly service and would return.
Really good Wetherspoons pub. A bit earthy and raw inside, but well behaved. Nice friendly staff, clean & comfortable.
The food was great, and at great value prices too. An enjoyable visit to an exceptionally good well run Spoons. Update... Food always excellent, once again enjoyed a tremendously good curry..
