About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Organ Grinder – well, it's listed as that, but everyone seems to call it The Lord Nelson, tucked away on Front Street in Arnold. From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got this warm, buzzing energy that makes you want to pop in for at least one pint. The Blue Monkey beers are an absolute highlight; I can imagine sinking into a Cinder Toffee stout on a quiet evening – pure bliss. The staff often come across as friendly and on point, helping you feel right at home, and the recent makeover has made the place feel even more spacious and comfy, with a lovely beer garden for those sunnier days. It's open most days from around 11, so it's perfect for a relaxed Sunday session. But, and there's always a but, isn't there? Some people have had a rough time if they've brought their dogs along, especially if they're a bit barky like a Beagle – it sounds like the team can get a bit short about it, which is a shame because not all pups are silent types. Plus, there are tales of the staff being a touch rude or seeming to prefer the regulars, which might make newcomers feel a bit out of place. Overall, with a solid 4.4 rating, it's got more going for it than not, but I'd say it's worth checking out if you're in the area – just keep those expectations balanced and maybe leave the lively dog at home for a smoother visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is always buzzing and lively, making it a great spot for a casual catch-up with mates.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of Blue Monkey beers, like that Cinder Toffee stout – it's a real treat.
  • The staff can be really welcoming and provide top-notch service, especially when you're settling in for a pint.
  • There's a spacious beer garden and plenty of seating options inside, plus handy spots to charge your phone.
  • It's undergone a nice makeover, feeling more comfortable and homely now.
Cons
  • It might not be the best for dog owners, as they seem picky about noise, which could lead to a less than pleasant experience.
  • Some folks have mentioned the staff can be a bit rude or unwelcoming at times, which puts a damper on things.
  • It feels like they might favour the locals, so if you're just passing through, it could come across as a tad exclusive.

It's always nice to pop in for a least one. The place is always buzzing, and I love a pint of Blue Monkeys, Cinder Toffee stout.

Dog friendly not!! If your dog barks they want you out!! Not a pub that will ever get my custom again! My dog is a beagle and is friendly but the pub only wants silent dogs! See you later! Never going again. Very rude and only want locals in ! Bar staff need teaching in all dogs are different and don’t judge ! Disgusting and so are the toilets

This is a real treasure of a pub in Arnold, great beers and very friendly atmosphere, our Friday favourite. For an extra special treat add pork pie with your pint. The new makeover makes it feel more spacious and comfortable.

An interesting pub that resembles a contemporary bar. Blue Monkey ales and okay to try before you buy. I had an IPA and a latte. There's plenty of sockets to charge mobile phones and we good selection of seating options. A large beer garden garden that's mainly on grass.

We went in on a Sunday evening for a drink as a family and we found seats straight away. The place is nicely set up and neatly kept. It wasn't crowded and the staffs were very welcoming offered as a great service. Their collection of Blue Monkey Beers were very nice too. The Disabled facility was in a good location and well maintained. It's both family and dogs friendly place which is very good. Would I recommend it? Absolutely yes, 💯 %.
