About This Pub

Ah, The Orange Tree – it's one of those pubs that really warms you up with its friendly staff who go the extra mile to make you feel at home, just like Tom mentioned in his review about the brilliant service and advice on where to grab a bite. You'll find a good range of beers at fair prices, and it's a proper spot for watching the footy or enjoying a chat in a classic setting. That said, it can be a bit on the quiet side sometimes, as Jason noted when he popped in and ended up next door for some live music, so if you're after a lively night, it might not always hit the mark. Oh, and it's a shame about the dartboard being taken out, like Chris pointed out; it used to add that extra fun element, but hopefully they'll bring it back. Overall, if you're in Altrincham and fancy a relaxed pint in a place that's improving under what seems like new management, give it a go – it's got that genuine, homely feel, even if it's a short walk from the transport hub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and incredibly welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They serve a cracking selection of beers and pints at more than reasonable prices, perfect for a relaxed evening.
  • It's a proper traditional pub with a friendly atmosphere, showing sports on the TVs, which is great for footy fans or just soaking in the vibe.
  • Despite being a bit quiet at times, it's still a solid spot for a good chat and a drink without the crowds.
Cons
  • It can be quite quiet on some visits, which might not suit those after a lively, buzzing atmosphere.
  • The dartboard has been removed, disappointing for anyone who enjoys a quick game or traditional pub activities.
  • The location is a tad out of the way from public transport, so it might take a bit of effort to get there.
  • With no specific operating hours listed and the place seeming a bit under the radar online, it could be tricky to plan a trip.

Was quiet when I visited, ended up next door as they had a live rock band on. Still a great place to go

Best customer service I’ve ever experienced in a pub. The girl behind the bar was lovely. So welcoming and advised where to go for food. This wasn’t just a one off. I noticed it was the case with every non regular customer. Many thanks for a fantastic experience. Excellent pint at more than reasonable price too

Pub for footy. Darts n pool upstairs *** UPDATE *** Went in there yesterday, nice pint, decent offers but they've removed the dartboard. I'll give it a proper review if the dartboard is reinstated. #LoveDarts

I have been in this pub across the years and different owners/managers...it appears to be on the up once more. The staff were nice and it's a traditional pub that serves beer, it also shows sports on various TVs around the pub. Seating is at a variety of tables of different sizes as the pub is very old the layout is quirky and unique
