About This Pub
Ah, The Old Moat House – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper go-to in Luton, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where it really shines; the carvery is a Sunday staple that's fresh, warm, and packed with choices, and those stone-baked pizzas made with 100% fresh dough are an absolute winner. The staff are gems too – stories of them interacting with families and sorting out little extras make it sound like a welcoming spot for a casual catch-up or a family outing. Plus, with all those daily deals like two for £14 on cocktails or 50% off on burgers, it's easy on the wallet, and the rewards app adds a nice touch for regulars. On the other hand, it's not all smooth sailing; the service at the carvery counter can sometimes leave you hanging, with folks needing to shout for attention, which takes away from that relaxed pub feel we'd all love. And let's be honest, it does get mobbed on Sundays, so if you're after a quiet pint, you might want to pick a quieter day. Overall, it's a solid choice for good grub and a friendly atmosphere, as long as you're up for the occasional hustle and bustle – I'd say give it a try if you're in the area, but maybe plan around the crowds for the best experience.
Pros and Cons

The carvery and pizzas are absolutely spot on – fresh, tasty, and a real treat, especially on a Sunday.
-
The staff are brilliant; they go above and beyond, like chatting with the kids and making sure everyone's happy.
-
It's super family-friendly with loads of options for veggies, vegans, and everyone else, plus great value deals like 50% off pizzas and burgers.
-
They've got cracking daily offers and a rewards app that makes it easy to save money and feel rewarded for popping in.
-
It's got a real community spirit, supporting local charities and making you feel like you're part of something good while enjoying a meal.
Cons
-
Service at the carvery can be a bit frustrating; you might have to call out or wait around, which isn't ideal for a relaxed vibe.
-
It gets packed on busy days like Sundays, leading to longer waits and a more hectic atmosphere than you'd hope for.
-
Some dishes, like that chocolate brownie, sound amazing but might take a while if they're being made fresh, so patience is key.

Recent Reviews
We come here a lot, Sunday is particularly busy but that's to be expected it is the best carvery in Luton!
Today Maria was outstanding and the main reason for doing this review, she went above and beyond recommend puddings at she wasn't wrong! She interacted with the children, was checking on everyone and everything, EXCEPTIONAL member of staff !! Thank you Maria!!!
Customers need to literally shout to grab attention of the carvery servant. People come here to have a relaxing, enjoyable experience, not to wait on their feet for 10 minutes. Food was great but I do recommend a sort of bell to be added.
Attended with a friend for a carvery, midweek.
Chef was friendly, food was fresh and warm, with plenty of choice.
Ordered the chocolate brownie for pudding, was told it was being baked fresh and would be another 20 mins! We happily waited, it was the best thing we’ve ever tasted, warm, crunchy, gooey brownie. Our server was super friendly, efficient and kept us in the loop for times and even brought the pudding out to us.
The Old Moat House is a beautiful place, myself and my now wife held our wedding reception here in April last year and couldn't be happier with how the day went.
The staff were incredible and nothing was too much trouble and I can only imagine how hard it must have been getting 57 carvery meals out to very hungry people so very well done for doing that successfully.
Cora you have been incredible from start to finish we can't thank you enough for all your help, the food is incredible and I truly hope more people discover this venue whether is for events or just to come and eat and have a drink.
Thank you to the Moat House for being the icing on the cake to our brilliant day.
My daughter and I have been here once before for dinner (we usually smash the granny out of the breakfast) - so we popped in again late afternoon, early Saturday evening, and it was peacefully quiet, which is just how I like it. The service was extremely prompt. The food? Top-drawer. The Old Moat House do not mess about when it comes to their burgers. In fact, they are fast becoming my go-to when I'm ravenous. Highly, highly recommended. 👌🏼
