About This Pub

Ah, The Northumberland Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a reliable mate in the busy streets of London. I've got to say, I love how it's tucked away near Tottenham Court Road, offering a proper escape from the hustle with its cosy nooks and an outside area that's perfect for a sunny pint. The food's a real winner; those pizzas and pies are spot on, especially with deals like the £15 pizza and pint that make it feel like a bargain in this pricey city. And the staff? They're absolute gems, always cheerful and ready to recommend something new. On the flip side, though, the drink options are a bit on the slim side – if you're a whisky enthusiast, you might find yourself wanting more choices beyond the basics. Plus, it's not the biggest spot, so it can be quiet during the day, and I've heard a few grumbles about tables not being as clean as they'd like. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up with friends, especially if you're after good value and a laid-back atmosphere, but it might not blow your socks off if you're seeking a wild night out. Give it a go; it's got that charm that grows on you!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's in a brilliant spot right near Warren Street tube, making it super easy to pop in after a day out in London.
  • The staff are really friendly and welcoming, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home.
  • They've got some cracking deals like the pizza and pint for £15, or happy hour with cheap pints and wine – perfect for keeping things affordable.
  • The food is a highlight; fresh pizzas and pies are tasty, with local ingredients that make a difference, and it's great to see options for everyone.
  • It's dog-friendly with a nice outside area, real ale on tap, and even HD screens for catching the game, plus Wi-Fi if you fancy sticking around.
Cons
  • The drink selection can be a bit limited, like only a few whiskies or just one cask bitter, which might disappoint if you're after more variety.
  • It's a smaller pub, so it can feel a tad quiet at off-peak times, and some folks have mentioned sticky tables, suggesting it could do with a bit more upkeep.
  • The atmosphere might not always hit the mark if you're expecting a buzzing crowd, as it's more of a cosy escape rather than a lively hotspot.

A smallish pub in a great location being close to Warren Street tube (they do have a small exterior seating area). I was here at 3.30 on a Monday afternoon and it was quiet. They had a limited selection on offer, for example just four whiskies. They had just one cask bitter, a Guardsman at £6.30 (which I had). The service was good and they had some nice traditional blues music playing. They do offer discounts to NHS staff and students. They do have a special offer at selected times of a pizza and a pint for £15, not bad for the area. An OK pub, for me it lacks product range but it was nice to check it out.

I've started working locally to this pub and they always seem to have good offers on so I tried it out. Pizzas are very good, pepperoni is recommended, and also the happy hour. 2 pints of staropramen for a tenner is an absolute win in London. Bar staff are very friendly, if you want a great cocktail ask for Alex!

Great pub. Only one person in the bar and he kept going outside for a smoke. Tables were still kind of sticky. Stopped in because I wanted to try a pie. Ordered the Moo Pie and a stone baked pepperoni just in case. Both were good.

Great pub for a nice casual dining experience. The pies are quite good, not amazing, but tasty and a good portion. I had the Moo and my wife had the Chicken and Mushroom (called Pieminister). Potatoes, peas, and gravy were perfect. The food overall was delicious and the presentation was great. How I would serve guests at home if we made a similar dish. I would certainly recommend a visit for a quick unfussy meal and a pint. Which they have a good selection of. Will surely visit again next time we are in town.
