About This Pub
Ah, The New Inn Bournheath – it's one of those cosy spots that just feels like a proper British pub should, tucked away in a quiet village with a real community feel. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the food really steals the show; their Sunday carvery and mid-week meals are packed with flavour and cooked to perfection, leaving you stuffed and satisfied without spending a fortune. The team behind the bar are an absolute gem, always greeting you with a smile and making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds to that welcoming, homely atmosphere – and it's great that they welcome dogs too, so it's perfect for a relaxed day out. On the flip side, though, you might run into a few hitches; the restaurant area's often booked for events, meaning it could be off-limits when you fancy a proper sit-down, and with the kitchen closed a couple of days a week or potential early closures on quieter evenings, it's not always the most reliable for spontaneous visits. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back meal or drink, especially if you plan ahead – I'd say it's well worth a trip if you're in the Bromsgrove area, as long as you're prepared for its quirks.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – their Sunday carvery and home-cooked meals are delicious and always hit the spot, with plenty of options to keep everyone happy.
-
The staff are so friendly and welcoming; they really make you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in.
-
It's brilliantly dog-friendly, which is perfect if you're out for a walk and fancy a pint without leaving your four-legged mate behind.
-
The atmosphere is lovely and clean, with a great beer garden that's ideal for soaking up the sun on warmer days.
-
As an inexpensive spot, it's brilliant value for a proper pub grub experience without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
The restaurant can be closed for events or private hires, so it's worth calling ahead to avoid disappointment if you're set on a full meal.
-
Opening hours are a bit limited, especially with the kitchen shut on Mondays and Tuesdays, which might not suit everyone for a mid-week bite.
-
They sometimes close early if it's quiet, which could mean your evening wraps up sooner than expected on less busy nights.

We went for our first Sunday carvery lunch yesterday having used others in the local vicinity on arrival we were greeted in both a friendly and professional and welcoming manner we were shown to our table the whole area displaying the highest standard of cleanliness and attention to detail.
The carvery was well presented and had a mixture of vegetables and offered two options of plate sizes.
The only downside was the use of cold plates a minor hiccup as the food tended
to decrease in temperature.
I can recommend for Sunday lunch you won't be disappointed
Went for a Sunday carvery in the restaurant part of the New Inn Bournheath. We all can honestly say how lovely the food was. We had 3 meats, beef, turkey and pork, all the vegetables as well, all was amazing. There was 3 of us and our dog, which is great we can take our dog in to the restaurant area, but must book in advance and tell them you got a dog as only a certain part of the restaurant you can take your dog into. The staff was so polite and friendly. Can’t wait to go again. Highly recommended. Thank you all.
Fantastic mid-week Wednesday evening meal. We went the full shebang with a Starter, main and pudding.
Couldn't fault a thing, it was all very well cooked and delicious!
Defo 19 20 my plates empty, all 4 if us went home stuffed because we didn't leave a thing.
We booked for mother's day and are all very much looking forward to it!!
Staff are lovely!!
A very warm welcome friendly atmosphere!!!
A quick pit stop but we hope to return as The New Inn feels a good un! The restaurant had stopped serving, so we had a Turkey cob and chips next door in the bar. Hope to try the restaurant out as the cob, chips and pint were superb and we had good service from the moment we stepped through the door even though it'd been rammed earlier. Dog friendly is a bonus too 👍
The New Inn is a wonderful country pub with great well kept beer and splendid food. A wonderful warm welcome awaits from all the staff, clearly trained to remember all the old fashioned family standards.
At the front of the property there is a ‘beer garden’ area, very popular in the warm weather of late and part of the car park front and back. Disabled access is good with a little extra care and behind the bar area there is a large seating area in the restaurant.
The online menu is quite varied and concentrates mainly on traditional pub meals, however that is not a criticism. The portions are good, and represent great value for money. Very few people could eat here, and honestly leave hungry. The sweets menu shows the same imagination with twists on the old favourites (mine the deep fried ice cream, & rum and raisin!) The service is wonderful with helpful friendly advice and reassuring attention to detail especially with our food allergies.
In short a family run friendly and great value country pub, super well kept beer and wonderful food served with imagination and backed by a good clear understanding of food allergens.
