About This Pub
Ah, The Gate at Bournheath – it's one of those pubs that you wander into and think, 'This could be a new favourite.' From what I've gathered, the food is where they truly shine; their Tex Mex offerings are spot on, and the Sunday Roasts come loaded with fresh veggies and a proper homely feel that leaves you satisfied. Pair that with a cold beer or a gin, and you've got a lovely spot for a laid-back afternoon or evening with friends. The staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and quick service that makes the whole experience smoother. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses – I hear some tables can be a bit sticky, which is a shame as it detracts from the charm. Then there's the odd dish that doesn't quite deliver, like a bland fish option that might leave you wishing for more flavour. And while it's generally a welcoming place, the lack of facilities for anyone with disabilities is something that stands out as a downside, making it less inclusive than it could be. Overall, with such a strong rating, it's clear most visitors have a cracking time, but keeping an eye on those little issues could make it even better for everyone stopping by.

Overall good pub, good place for vegetarian food options. We chose the Sunday Roast which comes with an assortment of great veggies and a main A couple of things ruined it a little for us, however.
The tables are quite sticky, and the fish dish was quite bland. I'd argue that I've had better.
Having said that, I think it would be a good option in the winter, seems to have cozy potential.
Went for lunch on an afternoon, very friendly helpful staff and the food was delicious.
Normally not one for Mexican food but they have definitely got it right!
Well, let me tell you this, the pub is amazing, great food, great drinks, great atmosphere but do not care about disabled people and are more than happy to discriminate against those who are in wheelchairs. There are no disabled toilets or areas for disabled guests to use facilities. The female toilets has a small cubicle with grab rails but no way can you fit a wheelchair in. The male toilet did also have a grab rails but no way to fit a wheelchair in.
In essence, it did not comply with regulations or the law for those guests who are non ambulant.
The staff response was that it is an old building but that is no excuse under the equality act. The building has clearly been refurbished in the last number of years. It could have been easier to make a bigger cubicle in both male and female toilets. Yet this was clearly not a thought.
Sadly my mother could not use the toilet and ended up urinating herself on the way home.
Please see photos attached and videos of the toilet's.
No excuse in this age to not have an accessible toilet.
We had a lovely lunch. The meals are amazing. The service was excellent. Thank you 😊❤️😋
Loved it so much. We haven't been here for years so we tried it out again last night. Food was amazing, came quickly and there was loads of it! Will definitely be back soon.
