About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Navigation Inn, it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon spots that always delivers on the basics – cracking beers at pocket-friendly prices and a warm, buzzing atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. I love how the staff go the extra mile to fix any little niggles, like whipping up a fresh burger if it's not quite right, which really adds to the experience. On the flip side, the food can sometimes fall short; you might end up with something a bit overdone or lacking that fresh touch, which is a shame when you're looking forward to a hearty meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together or a quick stop-off, especially if you're after good value and don't mind overlooking the occasional slip-up – just keep your expectations in check for the grub and you'll have a lovely time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely brilliant, with affordable options like guest beers for just £1.99 – perfect for a cheeky pint without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere is really welcoming and lively, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a good chat with mates.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful; they've been known to sort out any issues quickly, like remaking food or accommodating special needs.
-
It's excellent value for money overall, with filling meals and drinks that leave you satisfied without spending a fortune.
-
Plenty of outdoor space with beer gardens and decent parking, which is a nice bonus for a casual visit or a sunny day out.
Cons
-
Food quality can be hit or miss, with some items coming out overcooked or a bit rubbery, like eggs or burgers that don't quite hit the mark.
-
Occasionally, dishes might taste overly chargrilled, which isn't always what you're after when you're tucking into a meal.
-
Even though service is generally quick, the food preparation might not always live up to expectations, especially if the place is buzzing.
-
It can feel a tad inconsistent, so you might have a fabulous visit one day and a slightly underwhelming one the next.

Wonderful pub ,great beer ,1.99 for a guest beer can't be better ,really good atmosphere
The Manager is amazing we visited Monday afternoon wit a wheelchair user n a pram. The burger was burnt fresh one made, the veggie sausage were seasoned but overcooked - fresh pair were offered but I was full. Highly recommend this branch See you soon
Ordered the usual Freedom Breakfast which is fantastic value for money. The hash browns were a little underwhelming and the eggs were rubbery! Food arrived quickly even though the pub was busy but could have been better.
As a chef for 25+ years, I could tell the eggs had been under the grill/lights for too long but were edible.
Food tasted extra chargrilled which was t a good thing but aside from that, friendly staff and filling food
Having only opened in December 2021 - replacing a former Navigation Inn - it’s already in the 2024 Good Beer Guide. The Windsor Knot Pale Ale I had certainly merits the entry.
As an added bonus as well as two beer gardens, there is plenty of car parking although it’s Pay & Display and limited to 3 hours.
A straightforward 15 minute walk from Kings Norton 🚂 station.
