About This Pub
Ah, The Narrows – it's one of those classic Wetherspoon pubs that you stumble upon in Abingdon and end up enjoying more than you expected. I have to say, it's got that affordable charm going for it, with pints and meals that won't break the bank, and the food like their fish and chips is surprisingly tasty without being overly oily. The layout inside is spot on, stretching back nicely with a little courtyard that's just lovely for soaking up the sun. Plus, if you're into cycling, they've got secure storage out the back, which is a thoughtful touch. On the flip side, it doesn't exactly wow you from the outside, so you might miss it at first glance, and trekking upstairs for the toilets can be a bit of a nuisance. Oh, and watch out for the odd time they run out of favourites or the cutlery isn't up to scratch – it's not a deal-breaker, but it does take the shine off sometimes. All in all, it's a decent spot for a casual catch-up or a quick bite, especially if you're after good value without the fuss.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The interior is really well presented and laid out, making it a cosy spot once you're inside, even if it doesn't look much from the outside.
-
They've got a nice little courtyard, perfect for a relaxing pint on a sunny day.
-
Prices are spot on for a Wetherspoon – inexpensive and great value, like getting coffee with free refills for just over a fiver.
-
The food's generally good, with tasty options like fish and chips that aren't greasy, and it's quick and pleasant when you order.
-
It's cyclist-friendly, with secure storage at the back, which is brilliant if you're out for a ride and need a pit stop.
Cons
-
The outside doesn't look all that inviting, so you might walk past it without giving it a second glance.
-
Toilets are upstairs, which can be a bit of a trek if you're not expecting it.
-
They sometimes run out of popular dishes like fish and chips, which is a shame when you're craving it.
-
Cutlery isn't always as clean as it should be, which can put a damper on the meal.

Doesn't look all that inviting from outside but is very well presented inside and well laid out.
Nice Wetherspoons good layout stretching back into the pub quite a bit with a nice little courtyard. But like most, toilets upstairs.
Lovely cold pint with my husband ,doing what I love the most, visiting as many spoons as he'll take me to.Quick pleasant service and recommended if you're in the area.
Out riding with Reading Cycle Club and stopped at The Narrows for sustenance.
Great place for cyclists as bikes can be stored securely at rear of premises.
Arrived at 12.15 too late for breakfast. So had an all day brunch which is still breakfast 😁
Coffee and free refills all for just over a fiver- amazing.
Food came really quickly and it was hot and very tasty. Just what a cyclist needs after a couple of hours cycling.
Service very good and fast.
Toilets clean 😁
I love the fish and chips here. The prices are the best. The food isn’t greasy like in other places. However, they often run out of fish and chips. And the cutlery is not clean sometimes. That makes the experience a bit worse. Otherwise good food and good prices! I always return there!
