About This Pub

You know, chatting about The Mounting Stone, it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a good night out without any fuss. I love how they've got this fantastic selection of local beers and their own brews on tap – it's all about that real ale charm, and at moderate prices too, so you don't feel like you're breaking the bank. The atmosphere is spot on, all relaxed and community-focused, with friendly faces behind the bar who make you feel like a regular from day one. They've even got a bit of outdoor seating and extra rooms downstairs for when it gets busy, which is a nice touch. On the flip side, though, the food's not a daily thing; it's more of a monthly treat with their Malaysian street food specials, so if you're hoping for a proper bite alongside your drink, you might need to time your visit just right. Overall, it's a gem for beer enthusiasts, but it could do with a few more options for those peckish moments – still, I'd say it's well worth a stop if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant, with a great range of local ales, IPAs, and even their own brews from the on-site Made of Stone brewery – perfect for anyone who loves a proper pint.
  • The staff are always so welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, which really adds to the cosy vibe.
  • It's got a lovely relaxed atmosphere, with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, and they've even got awards under their belt, like being in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide, so you know it's a cut above.
Cons
  • Food options are a bit limited, with things like the Malaysian street food only popping up once a month, so it might not satisfy if you're after a full meal every visit.
  • As a micro pub, it can feel a tad snug on busier evenings, and with its location in the heart of Bramhall, you might find it gets a bit lively without much space to spread out.

Great bar with very good independent beer at value for money prices. Authentic Malaysian street food is now served once a month. Really enjoyed the meal as a special treat without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is great and the staff is always welcoming. Nice mix of people with good music.

First visit since pre Covid. Not a fan of Bramhall but love this micro bar. Been a few times and always had good beer and a warm welcome. Surprisingly spacious with an extra room downstairs. Pavement seating for four! Had a lovely pint of Bollington Best.

Excellent selection, lovely staff. It was a good level of fun on New year's Eve. They do take away as well... What's not to like
