About This Pub

Ah, The Meeting Place – it's one of those spots that just feels like a proper local gem, doesn't it? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the food is spot on; people are always going on about how lovely it is, with dishes that pair perfectly with a night of live tunes. The live music scene is where it really shines – they've got this amazing mix of genres, from rock tributes to alternative nights, and the atmosphere gets you in the mood for a singalong or a dance. The staff are dead helpful too, making sure everything runs smoothly, whether it's a big group event or just a casual catch-up. On the flip side, it's a shame about the limited vegan choices; if you're into that, you might find yourself wanting more variety. And with it only being open a few days, it can feel a bit restrictive if you're planning a spontaneous outing. All in all, though, it's a solid pick for a memorable evening – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as long as you keep those little niggles in mind. It's all about that balance, right?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely brilliant – from what I've heard from mates, it's fresh, tasty, and hits the spot, especially with options like the sweet pepper dishes that folks rave about.
  • Live music is a real highlight; they've got an unreal sound system and a cracking lineup of events, from rock tributes to bottomless brunches, making it a top spot for a fun night out.
  • The staff are so welcoming and on point – they go the extra mile, like organising special moments for birthdays or keeping the service speedy during busy events.
  • It's got a great atmosphere that's hard to beat locally, with a vibe that's perfect for gatherings, whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying a lively function.
Cons
  • There aren't many vegan options on the menu, which might leave some folks a bit disappointed if they're after more plant-based choices.
  • The place only opens a few days a week, so it can be tricky to pop in spontaneously, especially if you're hoping for a mid-week get-together.
  • Drink prices are pretty standard, which means they don't stand out as particularly cheap, though they're fair enough for what you get.

Great local spot with plenty of regular events and a great sound system. Standard drinks prices nowadays but a great atmosphere you'd struggle to find elsewhere locally.

I had a birthday celebration here, party of 10. Great food, and served ontime for all. The real treat was the organisation of the birthday cake moment. Staff captured the moment by phone, and a resident singer sang happy birthday ,so that all could join in Great atmosphere. Great staff, great venue M

Gorgeous place, loved the live music and vibes. And sweet pepper is my favourite food to eat in barrow so the combo is just fantastic.
