About This Pub

Ah, The Meadow Lark – it's one of those pubs that really tries to be the heart of the community in Dudley, and honestly, it often succeeds with its friendly staff and fresh, affordable grub that's perfect for a casual night out. I love how they've got something for everyone, whether you're tucking into a sizzling skillet or grabbing a burger during one of their great value deals; it's all about that homely feel with a bit of sizzle. They're bang on with community efforts too, like fundraising and offering their function space for free, which makes you feel good about stopping by. But, let's keep it real, there are a couple of downsides that might put a dampener on things – like that one manager who's a bit grumpy and can make the atmosphere feel off, or times when the food doesn't quite live up to expectations, such as a steak that tasted a bit dodgy. Waiting around for your meal can also be a drag, and the place does show its age in spots, so it might not be as spick and span as you'd like. All in all, though, if you're after a reliable spot for a pint and a bite with mates, it's worth giving it a go – just go in with an open mind and maybe avoid peak times to dodge the hiccups.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are generally lovely and make you feel right at home, with that warm welcome that's hard to beat.
  • They serve up fresh, quality food with options for everyone, including vegan and vegetarian choices, all at honest, affordable prices.
  • It's a great spot for catching up with friends, watching the game, or enjoying family meals, and they've got a free function area for community events.
  • The menu is varied and caters to all tastes, with sizzling skillets and burgers that hit the spot, plus daily deals that add real value.
  • Plenty of parking and a modern interior make it easy to pop in and relax, especially in a nice location like Dudley.
Cons
  • One of the managers can come across as a bit sour and unwelcoming, which might leave you feeling a tad uncomfortable.
  • There have been a few complaints about food quality slipping, like steak that didn't taste quite right, which is a real shame.
  • Waiting times for meals can drag on, as some folks have waited over 45 minutes even for starters.
  • The place shows signs of wear and tear, so it doesn't always feel as fresh or polished as you'd hope.
  • Service can be inconsistent, with some visits being spot-on and others falling flat, based on recent feedback.

I wish I could have gave here 5 stars as all the working staff (and the female manager) were absolutely lovely. food was pretty good too! what completely ruined it us was the male manager. his attitude was so sour and unwelcoming. place probably needs to sack him, we felt uncomfortable despite everyone else being so lovely. i feel sorry these lovely people have to work alongside such a miserable manager

I never usually leave reviews but I had to today as I was so disappointed.Having used this pub several times for meals before today was such a let down. I had steak salad. Waited 45 minutes for any food even the cheesy garlic bread. My steak tasted off! I actually almost vomited at one point. The salad tasted weird too. I don’t know if it was washed in some kind of chemical but it really tasted awful. The after taste has made me feel awful! I left pretty much all of it apart from the steak I chewed on and spat out into a serviette.. Not at any point did anyone ask us if the food was ok! The server was nowhere to be seen so we couldn’t even tell her! We just left in the end. Really sad to see such a lovely pub serve that.

The Meadow Lark is set in a lovely location. It has lots of parking space. It was a little chilly yesterday, so no-one was sat outside. The interior is up to date, and it was easy to find a seat. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The menu is varied and will cater to most tastes and ages. It was good value for money.

Three of us visited the Meadowlark for late lunch on Saturday 15th of July at 3:30. This ‘Sizzling’ branded pub / restaurant is in a purpose-built, relatively modern building on the edge of a residential estate. The premises are open plan and nicely decorated although signs of wear are evident in some places. On our arrival all unoccupied tables had been cleared ready for guests arriving. Cleanliness is good. The menu provides a reasonable choice of food and there is a good selection of hot and cold drinks available at the bar. It is a family pub / restaurant and at the time of our visit there seemed more children than adults, some of whom were being allowed to run riot. We ordered at the bar, rather than through the app, and we were quickly served by a friendly member of staff. Drinks were prepared immediately to carry back to our table, although they were almost knocked from my hand by unruly children. The food was brought to our table within 20 minutes of ordering and was nicely prepared. Food is typical chain pub fayre (frozen chips etc). We ordered sizzling rump steak, double hunter’s chicken and fish & chips. Two of the dishes were good value for money, although the fish & chips were disappointing (thin fish / dry chips). Overall, this is a pretty good family pub / restaurant with efficient, friendly service and reasonable food at a generally fair price. If you don’t mind eating in the middle of a playground I would recommend it. If you want a quiet or romantic meal I would give it a miss. We would probably return but avoid ordering the fish & chips.
