About This Pub

Ah, The Mariners Rest – what a charming find in Lowestoft! From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic array of ales and ciders that really hit the spot, and they're not breaking the bank either, which is always a win on a night out. The beer garden is a real highlight, especially on a sunny day, giving you that perfect outdoor space to unwind, and the indoor setup with sports on the telly and a darts board keeps things lively without being overwhelming. The staff and the crowd are genuinely welcoming, creating that easy-going atmosphere where you can chat away like old mates. On the flip side, though, the food choices are pretty slim – just some homemade sausage rolls and crisps – so if you're peckish for something more substantial, you might have to plan ahead or pop to another spot. And parking on the street can be a bit of a faff if it's crowded. Overall, it's a solid 4.6-rated gem that's worth a visit for anyone after good drinks and a friendly buzz, but keep those expectations in check for the grub and logistics.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of ales and ciders is absolutely spot on – always a great variety to choose from, and they're reasonably priced too.
  • It's got a lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint in hand.
  • The atmosphere is so welcoming, with friendly staff and regulars who make you feel right at home from the get-go.
  • There's plenty of entertainment on offer, like sports on the TVs, darts, and even live music on some evenings.
  • The pub keeps things clean and well-managed, which really adds to the overall enjoyment.
Cons
  • Food options are a bit limited, just homemade sausage rolls and crisps, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
  • Parking is on the street nearby, which can be a hassle if it's busy or if you're not familiar with the area.

No.1 place to go for a choice of ciders. Always a clean line, not expensive. Friendly staff, and customers are friendly and inviting. Couldn't ask for for better place to go. And on top of all that they have regular live music. Beer garden and sheltered smoking area
