About This Pub
Ah, The March Hare – what a gem of a pub tucked away in the historic heart of Cheadle Hulme. I've got to say, it's one of those places that just wraps you up in its cosy charm from the moment you step inside, with its timbered walls, roaring log fires, and that lovely garden overlooking the Micker Brook. The staff really make it shine; they're so friendly and attentive, like Joe whipping up those fabulous cocktails or Lily keeping everything running smoothly – it's clear they genuinely care about making your visit memorable. The food is spot on too, full of those hearty classics and seasonal treats that leave you satisfied, paired with a great selection of drinks that pair perfectly with the setting. But, if I'm being honest, there have been a few mentions of the veg in the roasts not being quite up to scratch, so it might not be perfect every time. Still, with its dog-friendly vibe and proximity to some lovely walks, it's an ideal spot for a catch-up or a quiet evening, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go – you'll likely leave with a smile, just like I did.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely charming, with a cosy, timbered interior, crackling log fires, and beautiful gardens right by the Micker Brook River – perfect for a relaxing pint or meal outdoors.
-
The staff are top-notch; they're friendly, professional, and really go the extra mile, like mixing up special cocktails or making sure everyone's comfortable, which makes every visit feel welcoming.
-
The food is a real highlight – hearty pub classics and seasonal dishes that hit the spot, with generous portions and options that cater to all tastes, including a well-stocked bar with cask ales, fine wines, and British gins.
-
It's dog-friendly and ideally located for a stroll in the historic Cheadle Hulme area, making it a great spot to unwind after exploring.
Cons
-
Some dishes, like the roast dinners, could do with a bit more attention to detail, such as ensuring the vegetables are cooked just right, as they've been a tad underdone in a few cases.
-
Being tucked away down a country lane, it might be a bit tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area, which could put off first-timers.

Had a really lovely time having a well over due catch up with my friend.. services was fantastic really enjoyable experience.. extra special thankyou to Joe who made us some lovely cocktails.. we will see you again soon
Such a lovely pub restaurant, tucked away down a country lane. Great ambience, service excellent, bar man Alex so friendly and down to earth, and very accommodating, the whole team that were on actually on Fri evening. We were out celebrating my aunts birthday and I struggle terribly with anxiety and group outings some days, and was having a bit of a bad week with my anxiety but the team were so lovely and looked after me in a really personal way, paying attention to my requests and just overall exceptional customer service. Highly recommend this place in terms of customer service. And the food was lovely too, my mum said the lamb was melt in the mouth, fall off the bone. My husband said the fish was also top quality. Thank you for the amazing food and evening.

Been here a few times over the years and never had a bad meal to date.
Today as a party we ordered Lasagne, the katsu rice bowl and the bacon chop. Everyone enjoyed their meal, I had the lasagne and it was delicious and a decent portion.
We were served by Nathan - the service was prompt but not overbearing or rushed. We will be back again for sure as we have returned over the years.
This is my kind of place. Snug, cosy and inviting. The decor is lovely, the staff are so friendly and professional. We really enjoyed it and will be back. Thank you x
Edit: visited today again after being let down by the Woodstock in Didsbury. Lovely experience again. Delicious food, beautiful surroundings, friendly and helpful staff who accommodated my request to substitute potato for anything green on my order without complaint. This pub is a bit of a drive for us but well worth the trip as it always delivers where our local establishments aren't meeting the standard. Thanks again.
Found this lovely place online! Didn’t even know it existed. Lovely atmosphere and we had Lily as our server. Lily was brilliant. Made sure everything was fine with the food whilst dealing with her other tables. One thing I would say about the roast dinners is maybe cook the carrots and broccoli a little more they were just a bit on the hard side (I like mine a little softer) but overall, amazing pub, lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Will definitely come back and bring some family members too.
