About This Pub

Ah, Archive – it's one of those places that really stands out in Cheadle Hulme for its vibe and offerings. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this great selection of craft beers and cocktails that make it a go-to for anyone wanting something a bit more special than the usual pub fare. The staff are absolute gems, always on hand to keep things flowing smoothly, whether you're there for a midweek meet-up or celebrating something like a 21st birthday in their lovely upstairs area. And those early evening deals on cocktails and pizzas? They're a real winner for making an evening out feel a bit more indulgent without breaking the bank entirely. On the flip side, though, it's not the cheapest spot – you might wince at the prices for a quick drink, and it does seem like they're still ironing out a few kinks since the management switched up recently, so it could feel a tad inconsistent at times. Overall, if you're up for a proper pub experience with a modern twist, I'd say give it a try; it's got that warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you want to linger, but just keep an eye on the bill to avoid any surprises!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of craft beers and cocktails is absolutely spot on – plenty of real ales and creative options to choose from, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • Service is top-notch; staff are super attentive and really make you feel welcome, especially for events like birthdays or parties.
  • The new upstairs bar area is a lovely spot, ideal for a bit of a gathering, and there's even outdoor seating for when the weather's nice.
  • They've got some cracking deals, like 2 for 1 cocktails and sourdough pizzas in the early evening – makes for a brilliant affordable treat.
  • It's in a great location in the heart of Cheadle Hulme, easy to pop into midweek or for a Saturday afternoon vibe.
Cons
  • Prices can be a tad steep; for instance, a small bottle of Guinness might set you back £5, which adds up if you're out for a casual pint.
  • It seems like they're still settling in after a management change, so things might not always be as polished as you'd hope.
  • Not the best choice if you're after a budget-friendly night – some folks have mentioned it's not cheap for what you get.
  • It can get quite busy on weekends, which might make it a bit overwhelming if you're just looking for a quiet drink.

Celebrated our son’s 21st at Archive last night. Great service from the new manager from start to finish ! The new bar area upstairs is lovely and ideal for a great party !! Great service from our own bar man who was super attentive and kept the drinks flowing. Lovely cocktails 🍸 and a great selection of beers 🍺 Pizzas were brought out about 8.30pm which went down incredibly well .. All in all a great night xx

2 4 1 cocktails and sourdough pizzas are a great idea to enjoy an early evening. We went on a Friday at 5pm and enjoyed the deal until 7pm for the pizzas. Absolutely fantastic, really nice and plenty of flavour. Staff were really nice and the guy who served us for the duration of our visit, was very knowledgeable and super friendly!

Lovely bar in centre of Cheadle Hulme with great selection of beers. Real ales plus plenty of craft beer to choose from. Toilets and additional seating upstairs. Some outdoor seating. Usually come midweek to meet up with mates. Far busier on a Saturday afternoon.

£5 for a 330ml bottle of Guinness Original is a little silly but the place seemed okay. The Chiverton Tap is nicer And £4 for a 440ml can of Guinness 0.0 too. Don’t come here for a cheap night out no matter how you wish to spend it — quite literally 😂

Seems like they're still finding their feet after a recent change of management. It's still a nice place to be, just not quite what it was. I really hope they can find their mojo as this was one of my favourite venues locally.
