About This Pub

Ah, Platform 5 – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to make you feel welcome, tucked away next to the train station in Cheadle Hulme. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real highlight; think delicious pizzas straight from the oven and a menu that caters to all sorts, with plenty of positive nods to the flavours and great value for money. The staff come across as genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and quick to sort you out, which adds to that warm, community feel. And let's not forget the drinks – a cracking selection of beers and spirits that keeps things interesting. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; a few folks have mentioned the odd slip-up with food prep, like chips that could do with a bit more time in the fryer, and if you're there late, you might miss out on grub since they wrap up serving early. Still, with its spacious layout, outdoor area for sunnier days, and family-friendly setup, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening or catching up with mates over a match. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit for the good times it delivers, just keep those minor niggles in mind for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic selection of meals and those handmade pizzas that always hit the spot – perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, making you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or hosting a special event like a birthday bash.
  • It's got a brilliant atmosphere, with plenty of space to relax, a cosy beer garden overlooking the station, and even screens for watching live sports or checking train times.
  • The beer selection is top-notch, featuring a range of cask ales, award-winning keg options, and a lovely gin and rum menu to suit all tastes.
  • Being child-friendly and dog-friendly makes it a welcoming spot for families or those with furry friends, and it's conveniently located right by the train station with parking available.
Cons
  • Some dishes might not always be cooked to perfection, like the chips that one person mentioned weren't quite crispy enough, which can be a bit disappointing.
  • Food service stops relatively early in the evening, around 8pm most days, so if you're after a late-night bite, you might have to plan ahead.
  • While the pub is spacious, it can get busy during peak times, making it tricky to snag a comfy seat without a bit of waiting around.

Great place, had my baby shower and my sons 1st birthday party here, food is amazing, prices are great and such a great atmosphere! Staff are also so nice and accommodating. Will always use these for get togethers now!

The chips could've done with another minute or 2 in the fryer as they weren't crispy and the centres weren't really fluffy or the right consistency either, but otherwise the food was OK. Great place to watch the trains go by

Great pub, always able to get a comfy seat and table. Friendly service. Good music that isn't played too loud. Typical food pub that doesn't disappoint. The beer isn't bad either.

Great place for a drink and a bite to eat. Staff are very friendly and give you a fantastic service! I took R2-D2 for the MS Society meeting! We had a buffet lunch and the food was excellent!

Haven’t been to P5 for a long time, but decided to try them again for Sunday lunch. My kids were thrilled with there meal, main course with two sides for £5.99 plus an extra £1 for a drink. My falafel flatbread was surprisingly tasty, I had initially opted for for a vegetarian Sunday roast, but unfortunately they didn’t have any vegetarian option available. Overall I would recommend, with plenty of seating areas and free parking. Don’t forget to enter your registration number on entry.
