About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Manor House in Eccleshill – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local gem in Bradford. From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, the food is a real highlight; people are raving about the steak and ale pies and those Sunday roasts, which sound like they'd hit the spot after a long walk. The service stands out too – it's friendly and efficient, even when handling big groups or special occasions, which makes it perfect for catching up with mates or celebrating something. The atmosphere is spot on as well, with cosy decor and a lovely beer garden for those warmer days, and it's clear they're proud of being a family-run business, adding that extra layer of warmth. On the flip side, a couple of reviews mentioned the food can be a bit lacking in flavour at times, like the veg or gravy needing a bit more zing, and there was that issue with the website having dodgy opening times, which could throw a spanner in the works. Still, with a solid 4.3 rating overall, it's worth a punt if you're in the area – just go in with an open mind and maybe suggest a tweak or two if it's not quite right. All in all, it's a great spot for a relaxed pint and meal, but like any place, it's not flawless.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially those steak and ale pies – they're legendary and perfect for a hearty meal.
  • Service is warm and attentive; the staff really go the extra mile to make sure everyone feels welcome, even with large groups.
  • It's got a cosy, inviting atmosphere with beautiful decor and a great beer garden for soaking up the Yorkshire sunshine.
  • Being a family-run spot, it has that personal touch that makes you feel right at home, and they've got a solid selection of real ales and drinks.
  • Plenty of options for different tastes, including Sunday roasts and a children's menu, making it ideal for family outings or casual meet-ups.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be a bit bland, like the gravy or veg, which is a shame when the rest is so good – could do with a bit more flavour punch.
  • The website's not always up to date, with wrong opening times popping up, which might lead to a few mix-ups when planning a visit.
  • It can feel understaffed at times, even if the team does a brilliant job; might mean a slight wait if it's busy.
  • Not everyone raves about the taste, as a few folks have mentioned things being a tad tasteless, so it might not hit the mark every time.

The ONLY pie in Bradford that I would scale a cliff face for. The pub is rarely too busy when we visit, yet I can only surmise this is because pie lovers of Bradford don't know of its one true treasure. The steak and ale pie is the greatest steak and ale pie on the planet. Once, in the misty past, they also offered a chicken & leak suet pudding. Sadly that only exists now in my memory. But the pie prevails. PIE!

We went this weekend for my husbands birthday we were a large group of 14 people . Our food was lovely and all came out fresh at the same time , they catered for individual needs and it was well organised and pre planned our meals etc . Lovely food and service will definitely be going back soon ! Thank you

Called for the Sunday lunch after an afternoon of bowling, luckily we were just in time as the times on the website were wrong but that didn't spoil anything as the staff were brilliant, attentive and on the ball. The food was delicious, 2 of us chose beef, 1 chose gammon, 2 chose chicken and 1 chose the pie. All was very well cooked apart from the chicken which was a bit tough but that wouldn't stop us going again and price was reasonable at £13 each. So would definitely recommend 👌

Came for Sunday dinner, good service, nice friendly staff. Good plate of food which was hot, but sadly most of the food was quite tasteless, gravy, meat, veg. Improvement suggestions would be steamed veg rather than boiled or less time cooked, roasted potatoes maybe add rosemary and garlic or other seasoning to them, a richer gravy, and a better cut of meat both the beef and chicken was quite chewy. Other food they serve here has been very nice especially the fresh cut chips. Maybe some music in the dining area to add a bit of atmosphere.

Table of 8 booked. Food was brilliant. They only had 1 bar staff / server working. She did a brilliant job. Will be coming back. We all ordered different meals and they were all really nice.
