About This Pub
Ah, The Manor in Toton – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you settle in. From what I've gathered chatting about it with mates, the food's a standout; they've got this menu full of comforting classics like steak, curry, meatballs, and even pizzas that feel freshly made and hit the spot, especially if you're popping in for a family meal or a casual Sunday roast. The drinks selection is spot on too, with plenty of premium beers and wines to choose from, and the staff are just lovely – quick to serve and always up for a chat, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting. Live music on Fridays adds a nice touch for those evenings when you fancy a bit more of a lively atmosphere. On the flip side, though, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few tales of dishes arriving not quite right, like cold food that's just zapped in the microwave, which is a shame when you're paying a bit extra. Prices can sting a little, and some sides are surprisingly small for what they cost, so it might not be the best pick if you're watching the pennies or after those everyday pub deals. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out in Nottingham, but I'd say go in with realistic expectations – it's got that community hub feel they're aiming for, and with a bit of tweaking, it could be even better.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is generally spot on – think hearty dishes like gnocchi, chicken tikka kebabs, fish and chips, and burgers that leave you satisfied and smiling.
-
Staff are always friendly and polite, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They've got a cracking selection of beers, lagers, and ciders, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
-
The atmosphere is lovely, with nice decor and live music on Fridays that adds a fun buzz to the evenings.
-
Service is quick, and portions are generous, especially with those small plates or tapas options that are a real hit for sharing.
Cons
-
Some meals can be hit or miss, like that beef dish that came out cold and ended up microwaved – not ideal for the price.
-
Sides can be a bit stingy; for example, a £4 cauliflower cheese with just two florets feels overpriced.
-
Prices are on the higher side without any lunchtime deals, which might put off those looking for a bargain.
-
The kitchen's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so it's not always an option for a mid-week meal.
-
A few reviewers mentioned it feeling pricey overall, especially when compared to other local spots.

Took my mother for early mother's day. She's very piccy and we have very different tastes in both pubs and food, however, we were all very satisfied with both the food and service. The new menu is great. We had the gnocchi, chicken tikka kebabs, fish and chips and chicken burger. All tasted great and the service was great - the team are very helpful, especially with me faffing about deciding!
Awful, ordered beef, came out stone cold, sent it back, then the cook just stuck it in the microwave. Ordered a side of cauliflower cheese £4 you only get 2 florettes. At the prices you charge could be a hell of a lot better. Would not recommend this. Wish I could give it 0 stars.
Decided to try the food here after hearing good reviews and it didn’t disappoint !
Three of us visited on a Saturday evening at 7pm, the bar and table service were both good.
We ordered, steak, curry and meatballs. All 3 meals were thoroughly enjoyed. We had a couple of questions so spoke to the chef Ewan, he was exceptionally helpful and approachable.
Well Done to the new team for waking the menu and the pub up, we will Definetly be regulars!!!!

Nice home cooked pizzas but felt a little pricey.
No lunchtime deals offered as in other pubs.
Nice decor and cruet vinegar pot quality and pleasing to the eye.
Great pub since it has been taken over in 2024. There is a very good selection of beers, lager and cider. The staff are friendly and polite and food service is quick and the portions ample. The small plates/tapas are particularly recommended.
