About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about Ginge's Tap—it's this lovely little retro music bar tucked away in Rotherham that's become a bit of a hidden favourite. From the moment you walk in, you're hit with that warm, nostalgic atmosphere, like flipping through an old record collection while sipping on a well-priced drink. The music is what really steals the show; they've got these curated playlists and live events that bring back all the best tunes, making it ideal for anyone who loves a good singalong or just chilling with mates. And the staff? They're just brilliant, always chatting away and making sure everyone feels right at home, which really adds to the community spirit. Prices are a winner too—cocktails around £6 and solid meals like a cracking full English that folks can't stop raving about—it's all so accessible without skimping on quality. On the flip side, it's only open a handful of days, so you might have to plan around that, and if you catch it on a quieter night, it could feel a tad subdued compared to the buzz on busier evenings. Plus, being in the town centre means it might not be the most convenient for a quick visit if you're not local. All in all, though, it's a welcoming spot that does a cracking job of blending old-school charm with good times, and I'd say it's well worth checking out for a proper pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant, with a retro music vibe that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time while still enjoying a modern twist—perfect for unwinding or having a dance.
-
Prices are spot on and really reasonable, whether it's for drinks like those affordable cocktails around £6 or a hearty full English breakfast that won't break the bank.
-
The staff are an absolute delight, always going above and beyond to make your visit memorable with their friendly service and warm welcomes.
-
The music selection is top-notch, featuring live events and playlists of classic tunes that bring people together and create a lively community feel.
-
Food options are a real highlight, with tasty dishes like a fabulous full English that customers rave about, making it a great spot for a casual meal.
Cons
-
It only seems to be open a few days a week, which might make it tricky to pop in spontaneously if you're not planning ahead.
-
The venue might feel a bit quiet on off-peak nights, like Fridays, so if you're after a buzzing crowd every time, it could disappoint on quieter evenings.
-
Being in the heart of Rotherham town centre, it might not be the easiest spot to reach for those coming from further afield, and parking could be a faff.

Last night was our first visit and it will definitely not be our last !!
Me and the 2 girls went on Friday, such lovely service. Apparantley Saturdays are busiest day/night which I have been on and it’s a great atmosphere. Friday there was only a few of us in but still nice nevertheless☺️ cocktail prices are so cheap (6 pound ish), especially when I’m used to Wickersey prices. Did not have any food so can’t comment.
Can imagine it being fab in summer 🍻 great to see Rotherham coming slightly alive again!
