About This Pub

Ah, The Magic Garden – it's such a lovely find in Nottingham's Lace Market, tucked away in a beautiful old Georgian townhouse that just oozes character. I have to say, the real star here is that incredible outdoor garden; it's like stepping into a tropical paradise with all the plants and colourful surprises, perfect for soaking up the sun on a summer evening or enjoying a cosy drink when the weather turns. The cocktails are spot on, and it's clear from what folks are saying that it's a brilliant place to gather with mates for a laugh or even sort out a private hire for something special. On the downside, it's not exactly cheap – you'll notice it in the prices – and a few have mentioned that the food can be hit or miss, with smaller portions or dishes that don't quite deliver as promised. Still, if you're after a unique spot with a bit of magic, it's worth giving it a go, just maybe keep expectations in check for the eats.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The outdoor garden is an absolute delight, with lush tropical plants and a vibrant atmosphere that makes it feel like a hidden oasis in the heart of Nottingham.
  • They've got a cracking selection of cocktails that are well worth trying, adding to that magical vibe.
  • The staff are really friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home whether you're popping in for a drink or booking a private space.
  • It's a fantastic spot for groups or events, with plenty of rooms and areas that can be hired out for a special occasion.
Cons
  • It can be a bit on the pricey side, so you might want to save it for when you're in the mood to splash out rather than a casual night.
  • Some of the food portions feel a tad small or inconsistent, like the halloumi that didn't quite live up to expectations.
  • The grub can sometimes miss the mark, with reports of overcooked dishes that don't always hit the spot.

We came here for the bottomless brunch. Disappointed would be an understatement. Food was far below average- we ordered the halloumi which was half the size of the portion of the person next to us. The chicken strips were overcooked and weren't seasoned and lacking the sauce they were meant to arrive with. Staff weren't attentive - I understand that Saturdays are busy but the staff weren't present at all and when we did manage to flag them they seemed irritated at us for ordering drinks. If you are coming here, you should know that the "last orders" for drinks happen 1 hour into your alloted 1.5 hour bottomless brunch time - not exactly what you expect for a "bottomless" brunch. The cocktails were extremely watered down, we had around 7 each and the effect was negligible. Again - not what you expect from a bottomless brunch. Thoroughly disappointed and won't be returning.

The garden is amazing! If you into your beer gardens, this is probably in the top 3 in Nottingham. Food wise, its on the pricey side and small but been lovely. Great choice of cocktails too!

We recently booked out the first floor for a leaving do and it was amazing! The space was beautiful and just the right kind of vibe we were looking for. The space was so big we didn’t even need to use all of it but it was nice to have the option. The staff on the bar were really friendly and we were even able to order food up to our floor which was really nice. I’d definitely recommended booking with them if you’re looking for somewhere to have a private function in Nottingham!

We visited the Magic Garden to try out their new Sunday Roast menu. Services was impeccable and friendly, portions were generous and the food was amazing. We will definitely be coming back , looks like an amazing place to spend a summer evening.
