About This Pub
Ah, The Longford Engine – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that just feels like a reliable old mate, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff really go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, which is such a nice touch when you're popping in for a casual pint or a bite. The prices are dead reasonable too, making it a top pick for a budget-friendly evening out, and those massive portions on the food side are a winner if you're after something hearty without the hefty price tag. Sitting by the canal with a drink in hand sounds like a proper treat on a sunny day. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – the drink choices can feel a tad limited, especially if you're a fan of real ales, and the food, while filling, doesn't exactly wow with its flavours. Oh, and that pool table? It's got a mind of its own, which might lead to a few laughs but could put a dampener on your game. All in all, if you're in Coventry and after a laid-back spot for good company and value, it's worth checking out, but keep expectations realistic for a no-frills experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-

-
Prices are spot on for a local pub – inexpensive drinks and generous food portions that won't break the bank.
-
It's spacious with plenty of tables and chairs, perfect for catching up with mates without feeling cramped.
-
The canal-side location is a real gem, ideal for enjoying a pint outside with a lovely view.
-
The atmosphere is relaxed and great for casual meet-ups, whether you're there for food, football, or just a quiet drink.
Cons
-
The drink selection is a bit limited, with no real ales on offer, which might disappoint if that's your thing.
-
Food options are pretty basic, so if you're after something fancy, you might find it lacking.
-
The pool table can be a right nuisance, acting up and sending balls flying everywhere – not ideal for a proper game.

Here for football, was driving so not drinking which, wasn't such a bad thing as no real ales. Food was pretty basic but, there were going to beer lots of footie fans coming in. Great location on the canal.
Friendly staff and punters. Coke was out but diet coke sufficed. Pool table had a mind of it's own throwing balls all over the floor; free entertainment 👍
Came here for food and a pint, great prices, beer was amazing, music wasn’t too loud so we could hear each other.
Food was amazing, massive portions for what you pay too
Only popped in for a quiet drink and i was made welcome and served straight away...
It was £4 for a pint of Carling which was spot on....
Plenty of tables and chairs and very spacious across the whole building....
This is a fabulous pub, woth really friendly staff. It's on the canal front so we sat and had a pint outside admiring the view.
We'll be back.
