About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Boat Inn – it's one of those classic pubs in Coventry that feels like a proper community hub. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome; it's that kind of place where you can pop in for a quick drink and end up chatting away with the regulars. The prices are spot on for a budget-friendly night out, and if you're lucky, the outdoor Indian food stall might serve up something delicious to go with your pint. But, and I have to be straight with you, it's not all smooth sailing – I've heard a few tales of food deliveries arriving cold and lacking any real flavour, which is a shame because it could be a real highlight. Plus, the beer isn't always at its fizziest, and the pub can have a bit of an off smell that might put you off if you're sensitive to that sort of thing. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back drink and some good company, but maybe give the food a miss unless you're eating in. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out for the atmosphere alone – just keep your expectations realistic!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's a great spot for a cheap pint and a good old chat with the locals – perfect for a relaxed evening.
-
The outdoor area with the Indian food stall can be a real treat when it's on form, offering some authentic flavours that hit the spot.
Cons
-
Some of the food orders, especially deliveries, have been disappointing – cold, tasteless, or just not what you'd expect.
-
The beer can sometimes be flat, and the pub itself might have a bit of a musty smell that takes away from the experience.
-
It's a tad dark inside, so you might not notice it's a pub at first glance, and they don't have much in the way of bottled options.

Popped into this pub whilst out walking after the Coventry match. We didn’t immediately identify it as a pub but it was dark! We only had a drink, so didn’t try the food or see the outside seating area. Basic boozer with very friendly and helpful staff and locals.
First and last time I'm ordering from this place .by the looks of it the delivery bloke didn't care what was in are bag and looked like it's been rolled around on the floor .the food was cold the vindaloo wasn't hot and tasteless. The kebab was shocking. Asked just eat for my money back and hopefully get it back .shocking!!!
Just had a chicken tikka masala delivered looked watery didn't smell like a masala and tasted like tomato with a bit of cream in it. Won't be having one again.
I recently visited a pub with an outdoor Indian food stall, and it was an absolute delight. The seating area, partially covered with benches, provides a cozy atmosphere to enjoy a meal. The food was deliciously prepared, offering authentic Indian flavors that perfectly complemented the refreshing beers. It’s a fantastic spot to spend an afternoon, combining great food with a relaxed and welcoming ambiance. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable dining experience.
Used to be a OK pub if all you want is a pint, no bottled lager. Nice and cheap for the drink. The beer is flat and the pub itself smells. Could be a really nice place if tidyed up
