About This Pub

Ah, The Lexington – it's one of those classic London spots that really knows how to pull off a good time, tucked away in Islington with a mix of live tunes, craft brews, and a welcoming crowd. What stands out most is the fantastic atmosphere; it's got this energetic buzz that draws you in, whether you're popping in for a casual drink or diving into the upstairs music scene with DJs spinning or bands playing up close. The staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really lifts the experience. And let's not forget the drinks – a brilliant array of beers and spirits that pair perfectly with their tasty pizzas, especially during happy hour when things feel even more of a bargain. But, to keep it real, it's not all smooth sailing; the security team can sometimes come across as a bit abrupt, which might put a slight dampener on your evening. Plus, those steep stairs and the heat building up upstairs can make it a tad uncomfortable on busier nights, so it's worth planning ahead if you're not keen on the hustle. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone after a lively pub crawl or gig, as long as you're up for embracing the highs and lows – I'd say it's well worth a visit for a balanced night out in the city.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant – it's got that lively, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home for a proper night out.
  • The staff are real stars; they're friendly, professional, and add a lovely touch to the whole experience.
  • They've got a cracking selection of craft beers, bourbon, and spirits, perfect for settling in with mates.
  • The live music venue upstairs is an intimate gem, letting you get up close to the bands or DJs for a memorable evening.
  • Happy hour deals on drinks and tasty pizzas make it a budget-friendly spot, even in central London.
Cons
  • Security can be a bit rude and disorganised at times, which might spoil the fun when you're trying to enjoy yourself.
  • The stairs up to the music area are steep and it gets awfully hot upstairs, so you might want to dress light and take care.
  • It can get quite crowded and lively, turning a quiet pint into a full-on night, which isn't ideal if you're after something more relaxed.

I was very impressed with the overall atmosphere and absolutely loved the venue — it's a fantastic space with a great vibe. The staff inside were amazing: friendly, professional, and really added to the experience. However, the security left a lot to be desired. They were rude, disorganized, and seemed very selective about who they allowed in, with no clear system in place. It felt unwelcoming and unfair. Unfortunately, the poor attitude from security put a damper on what could have been a flawless experience.

The Bar in the pub is placed along the window with a good selection of beers and on the back shelf is a vast variety of spirits. There is also a DJ booth by DJs playing music, upstairs ther is a music venue Which is small enough to get right up to the band ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Proper intimate music space upstairs and nice pub downstairs that serves pizzas (little sloppy but tasty). Great sound system and a bar upstairs too. Can pay to leave coat and bags. Steep stairs up there and gets real hot upstairs so dress light

This is my favourite pub near kings cross station. Great beers, lovely atmosphere. Can get very lively in the evenings, a quiet pint can easily become a full night out. Has an upstairs venue for live music and clubnights.

Small bar/music venue. I'd guess the capacity upstairs for the music would be around 120-ish. Bar downstairs was comfy & Happy Hour pricing on some drinks/food is very welcome in central London! Upstairs has a small bar, stage & standing area. I liked the fact that the bar & the area around it were higher than the main floor meaning that people at the back can see over the crowd.
