About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Last Drop Inn – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway in the heart of York. I've heard from folks who've been there that the beer selection is spot on, with a cracking array of cask ales and local brews that really hit the mark, especially if you're into trying something new like a Turning Point Astral Voyage or a Dorking Brewery Red. The staff are an absolute delight, always enthusiastic and helpful, which makes popping in for a pint feel like catching up with mates. It's got that cosy, community vibe that's a breath of fresh air compared to some of the louder places around, and the dog-friendly courtyard garden is just the cherry on top for a relaxed afternoon. On the flip side, the hours can be a bit unpredictable, so you might end up planning around that, and it does get packed when word gets out, which could mean a wait for a table. Overall, though, it's a solid choice if you're after good beer, good company, and that genuine pub charm – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep an eye on the details to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The selection of cask ales and local craft beers is absolutely brilliant – it's a real treat for anyone who loves a good pint.
-
The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with a smile and some great recommendations, like the shout-out to Nat!
-
It has a lovely local feel, which is a nice change from the rowdier spots in York, making it perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
-
Being dog-friendly with a charming courtyard garden adds to the welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a sunny afternoon.
-
Prices are fair, and there are fun events like the weekly Wednesday evening pub quizzes that make it even more enjoyable.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit inconsistent based on what's listed, so it might be worth double-checking before heading out.
-
With its popularity, it could get quite busy at times, which might make it tricky to find a seat during peak hours.
-
The online presence is a tad lacking, as the website had some issues when I tried to look it up, so you might not get all the info you need online.

Lovely little boozer. Great selection of cask ales and a more of a local feel than some of the other rowdier pubs in York. Dog friendly with a nice courtyard garden.
Super friendly staff too ( 👏Nat!)
Just out for a drink but this is a great beer venue. A good selection of breweries. Fair prices and great staff. Made for a great visit. Used to drink here years ago but it’s definitely getting back to its best under new management. Keep up the good work.
Great range of local craft beers / real ales served by knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. We joined in the weekly Wednesday evening pub which was good fun. If you like trying different ales, this is a top place imho
Visiting while here in York with the Sons of the Desert. A lot here, but 10 of us popped in to say hello. Very friendly and very helpful.
I have been here a few times. Ic and Flic think it used to sell York Ales as I remember drinking York Guzzler here. An L shaped ground floor bar with a very good selection of real ales. Stayed for two. Pint of Turning Point Astral Voyage session Pale and a Dorking Brewery Red ale. Great visit.
