About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Lamb, it's got that quintessential British pub charm that's just spot on for a relaxed evening out. Tucked away in Bloomsbury, it's a stone's throw from Holborn and Russell Square, making it dead easy to pop in after a wander around. The Sunday roasts are something else – imagine tucking into tender lamb or beef with all the trimmings, paired with a refreshing spritz or a pint, and it's no wonder folks rave about it. The place itself is full of character, with antique screens and a lovely back garden that's perfect for catching up with friends on a warm day, plus those private rooms are great if you're planning a get-together. On the downside, I've heard a few grumbles about the bar service dragging on, which can put a dampener on things if you're in a rush, and while the food's generally solid, some bits like the starters might not quite deliver the flavour punch you'd hope for. All in all, with its solid reputation and welcoming atmosphere, it's worth checking out for a proper pub experience – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Sunday roasts are an absolute treat – proper hearty fare that's perfect for winding down the weekend with a good book and a Bloody Mary in hand.
  • The ambiance is spot on with its Victorian decor and historical photos, giving that warm, nostalgic pub feel that's just lovely for a catch-up with mates.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, like their seasonal spritzes and a range of cask and craft beers, plus a secret back garden that's ideal for al fresco sipping on a sunny day.
  • The staff are genuinely welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or booking a private room for a special do.
Cons
  • Service at the bar can be a bit on the slow side at times, so you might end up waiting longer than you'd like for your round.
  • Some of the food dishes, like the starters, have been described as a tad bland or on the small side, which could leave you wanting a bit more bang for your buck.
  • Not every meal hits the mark, with a few reviews mentioning average mains and underwhelming portions, so it might not always live up to the hype for foodies.

Good experience and Super delicious meal at the Lamb! We got the Sunday Roasts ( Lamb and Beef), cheese cauliflower, and sticky toffee pudding, a cider and Guinness. I highly recommend it! I would come back to try more of the food. Nice ambiance and cool historical photos too. Nikki was our wonderful server and gave great customer service!

Very traditional local. But stickybin places but adds to the typical pub vibe. Outdoor heated seating area is great.

This is the second time I've brought my group from Noble Frog Tours to The Lamb for a private group dinner in their Empire Room. The group was just about 20 people and everything was waiting for us as we arrived. The tables were set, and we had access to the bar (private to us in the Empire Room), where we were quickly serviced for our drinks. We were given a group menu a couple of weeks before and were able to pre-order what we wanted from that selection. The food was fantastic!! Irene helped us during our stay there and was a great help and really fun to be with. It was recommended to the group that they visit The Lamb other times during the week we were there, and I can confirm that many of them did, as well as myself. Thanks to Irene and the rest of the staff at The Lamb (whether we saw them or not) for a great and positive experience. I'll see you again in December with another group!!! I'm hoping to make this a regular habit at The Lamb.

Well located tradtional pub with a private dining room at first floor level. Very slow service at the bar. Food was very average with some fellow diners being disappointed with various courses. Starters were somewhat undersized and bland. Main courses were adequate and the deserts were generally OK. However, for a group booking this presents a good value option and no doubt we shall visit again.

I would give more stars if I could. The staff was utterly charming. The food was delicious. The historical aspect of the pub makes it a must visit, but I worry to lavish too much praise because it’s a proper English neighborhood pub with no tourists. Who needs them? Haha. It was lovely.
