About This Pub

Ah, The Ladysmith in Ashton – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the staff are absolute stars, always up for a laugh and making newcomers feel like old mates, which is just what you want on a casual evening out. The prices are spot on too; think cracking deals on beers and spirits that won't break the bank, especially with those Wednesday specials that sound like a right bargain. Being right by the train station makes it a no-brainer for a quick stop after commuting, and they've got live music and sports to keep things entertaining. On the flip side, there are a couple of grumbles about the odd bit of rough language from behind the bar, which might not suit everyone, and it does seem to be a quieter spot sometimes, so if you're after a packed house, you might need to time your visit just right. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed drink and a catch-up, with more positives than negatives based on the buzz – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself; you might just end up making it your regular haunt.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Drinks are really affordable, with specials like all drinks for £2 on Wednesdays – perfect for a budget-friendly night out.
  • It's in a brilliant spot, just next to the train station and town centre, so it's super easy to pop in after work or while you're out and about.
  • The atmosphere is lively with live music and sports on offer, plus amenities like outdoor seating and free Wi-Fi to make your visit more enjoyable.
  • The place is kept clean and tidy, which is always a plus when you're settling in for a pint or a chat.
Cons
  • There have been a few reports of less than ideal behaviour from behind the bar, like swearing, which might put some folks off if they're after a more relaxed vibe.
  • It can feel a bit quiet at times, with some saying it's not the busiest spot in Ashton, so it might not always have that buzzing crowd energy.
  • Service isn't always consistent, based on mixed experiences shared, so you might have a great visit or one that's a tad underwhelming.

My first visit in 25 years, a really nice pub. Very clean and tidy(that includes the gents). A nice pint and a pleasant couple of hours. Been in a few times, really nice place and the service is brilliant, such a friendly place. To be truthful probably not the busiest pub in Ashton but hey it's a fantastic pub. Update, this is now my regular haunt when off work or when Curzon are at home.
