About This Pub
Ah, The Ash Tree – it's one of those classic Wetherspoon pubs that you can always rely on for a good time without spending a fortune. I have to say, the real highlights are the wallet-friendly prices and that fantastic range of drinks and food; whether it's a hearty fish and chips or a refreshing pint, it's all spot on and hits the spot every time. The staff are an absolute gem too, always cheerful and getting your order out in no time, which makes for a pleasant visit. Plus, that outside seating area is just the ticket for a bit of fresh air and a chat on nicer days. On the flip side, though, the darker spots around the entrance and bar can make it feel a bit moody, and I've heard a few tales of things getting a bit lively with crowds, so it might not be ideal if you're after a quiet evening. Oh, and keep an eye on the food temperature – sometimes things like chips come out cooler than you'd hope, but overall, it's a place I'd happily recommend for a laid-back get-together, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The prices are incredibly affordable, making it a brilliant spot for a cheeky night out without breaking the bank.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks and dependable food that's always tasty and filling.
-
The staff are really friendly and on the ball, with quick service that makes popping in a breeze.
-
The outside seating area is lovely, especially on a sunny day – perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
Cons
-
The entrance and bar areas can be a bit too dark, which might make it feel a tad gloomy if you're not keen on dim lighting.
-
There have been some reports of rowdy behaviour or disturbances, so it might not always be the most peaceful pint.
-
Occasionally, food like chips can turn up cold, which is a bit disappointing when you're tucking in.

Its a spoons - you know what you're getting.
Dependable and eatable food, great selection of drinks and super low prices.
Lovely outside seating area at this one.
The entrance areas and bar are very dark
My favourite place for a Friday cool down after work. We love the food here. Never had a bad experience and if you can’t eat everything you ordered, you can ask for a doggie bag!
Good selection of beers and other drinks! Worth visiting!
The pub its self is lovely however is ruined by the wrong types of people. Everyone just seemed so angry! We had to listen to grown men bullying other women and causing disturbance, security ignoring us when we raised concerns and seconds later a fight breaking out. and antisocial behaviour on the outside area, and then when we went inside to get some peace had a deranged woman going off at us for leaving the door open!
Very weird atmosphere for a pub sadly let down by certain people that just shouldn’t be going to a pub!!
The pub, food and service its self is 5 stars. Just let down sadly by the individuals which is unexpected for a Thursday afternoon.
Staff were really friendly and attentive. The conservatory was really nice to dine in. Ordered via the app and food arrived within 15 minutes. The halloumi burger and pizza were tasty however the chips were quite cold. Would Return again
Fish and chips the best I had for a long time! Massive fish, crispy batter, no oily at all, for £11 with nice pint, it's a steal! I love outside area on first floor.
