About This Pub

Ah, the Kings Head Hotel, it's one of those places that starts off promising with its history as a Victorian pub turned boutique hotel, right in the heart of West London. I have to say, the staff really shine through; they're friendly and go out of their way to sort things out, like when you're arriving early after a long flight. The rooms can be quite nice too, with luxuries like underfloor heating in the bathrooms and a telly to relax with, plus it's super convenient for exploring the city or just popping out for a stroll in the local parks. But, and it's a big but, there are some real downsides that I've heard from mates who've stayed there – things like mould on the walls, stained pillows, and even the odd mouse or rat scurrying about, which is enough to make anyone think twice. It feels a shame because the location and the idea of it are spot on, but if hygiene isn't up to par, it can turn a potentially great visit into a bit of a nightmare. All in all, if you're considering a trip, I'd suggest weighing up those pros against the cons and maybe checking for recent feedback to see if things have improved – it's worth it for the good bits, but go in with your eyes open.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are really helpful and accommodating, making you feel welcome right from the get-go.
  • Rooms have some lovely touches like air conditioning, free WiFi, and tea and coffee facilities for a comfortable stay.
  • It's in a great spot in West London, with easy access to parks, shops, and transport links to the rest of the city.
  • The bar and pub area is a nice spot to unwind with a cocktail or a meal after a day out.
Cons
  • There have been reports of hygiene issues, like visible mould and stains, which can really put a damper on things.
  • Some guests have encountered pests such as mice and rats, making for an unsettling experience.
  • Maintenance seems to be lacking in places, with rooms not always up to scratch despite the hotel's boutique vibe.
  • A few stays have felt uncomfortable due to these problems, especially when you're expecting a bit more for the price.

Front desk was helpful and accommodating. I had arrived before check in after a rough flight and they were so helpful. Rooms were very nice as well as clean. I wish I had booked my full stay here

The room had visible mold on the walls and stains on the pillows — genuinely shocking for a hotel in this price range. It was clear the room hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained, which made the whole stay feel uncomfortable and unhygienic. To make matters worse, I emailed the hotel multiple times after my stay to raise these concerns and never received a single response. No apology, no follow-up — just complete silence. Avoid if you value cleanliness, professionalism, or even the courtesy of having your complaints acknowledged.

I can only say as I find , nice hotel very friendly staff. Bath is a great addition to the shower. Room cleaned every day fresh towels even though they weren't required. I'd happily stay again. Furniture has a few marks but it's not the Hilton , bed comfortable. Had a few events so loud music but it's a pub as well but it wasn't overly intrusive. Thanks Gary

WARNING! MICE! VERMIN! POISON! There was a mouse in our bedroom, I was sure I saw it on our second night, but my husband said “that can’t be…”. So I thought maybe it was just a shadow. The last night the mouse ran around the room while we were packing to check out the next morning. Where there is one mouse, there are several! We were given another room and late check out. No other form of apology for the horrible experience. They claim that it has never happened before, but when I started searching at home, I found three reviews complaining about just this. And all in the last 3-4 weeks. Which means that they do nothing about, apart from spreading rat poison on their own, and I am very certain that they do not inform the guest of neither the problem or that there is rat poison, who knows where. I tried to explain that mice and other vermin carry dangerous and potentially deadly diseases, but felt that I got no response or understanding. The hantavirus can be deadly, and salmonella is serious. Now I have to sanitise every single thing. Apart from that, the shower drain was plugged, the tap in the shower came loose and had to be used very delicately, hot, even lukewarm water took for ever and there was black mould in the bathroom. We had to wait til the last day to get a remote to our room. And the elevator took 2-3 minutes to arrive and climb one floor.

Avoid This Hotel at All Costs! I never write reviews, but after the nightmare experience I had here, I feel compelled to warn others. First off, my girlfriend saw a rat in our room. Naturally, we went to the reception to report it, and the staff member came up to “check” the room. We couldn’t find the rat, but instead of offering any kind of apology or solution, he essentially told us we’d just have to sleep there. When I insisted we needed a new room, he agreed, but only if we fixed up the room ourselves and made the USED BEDSHEETS because another guest was coming in. Seriously? DISGUSTING USED BEDSHEETS AND A RAT !! We reluctantly moved to another room, which was worse. It was tiny, windowless, and stuffy. The TV didn’t work either. I went back to reception to ask for a room change, as he had mentioned this the night before. His response? He called me a liar and suggested I check the CCTV to see if I was telling the truth. What kind of customer service is that? After more complaints, he finally agreed to change our room again, but by that point, I was done. The whole experience felt like we were being treated like children, and the hotel staff were incredibly unprofessional. The rooms are terrible, the service is awful, and the whole situation was completely unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. This place does not deserve your business.
