About This Pub

Ah, The Kings Bar in Aberdeen – it's one of those unpretentious spots that feels like a real gem for a laid-back pint with mates. From what I've gathered, the staff are generally spot on, dishing out smiles and making newcomers feel welcome, and the prices are dead reasonable, so you can enjoy a decent beer or even some scampi and chips without emptying your wallet. The atmosphere's got that authentic old-school pub feel, with a fun buzz that's inclusive and not at all stuffy. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; there was this one chap who had a right nightmare with a rude member of staff and thought the place looked a bit of a state. Still, with most reviews singing its praises, it seems like these are the exceptions rather than the rule. If you're after a straightforward, no-fuss night out in Aberdeen, I'd say give it a try – just keep in mind it might not wow you with anything fancy, but it could become your new favourite local haunt.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are usually friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's got that classic old-school pub charm, with a fun and relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for a casual catch-up.
  • Drinks and food are inexpensive and tasty – think solid options like scampi and chips at a great price.
  • It's inclusive to both locals and visitors, giving off a proper community vibe without any pretence.
Cons
  • There have been reports of rude service from some bar staff, which can really put a dampener on your evening.
  • The place might come across as a bit rundown or dated to some, so it's not the most polished spot.
  • It's not the go-to for trendy drinks like craft beers or fancy gins – more your straightforward pub fare.

One of the bar staff was really rude. And the place was a dump.

I've not been here for many years and it's a really nice traditional bar. Nothing fancy, but very welcoming with really good staff and a fun atmosphere. It's very much a local, without being excluding to casual visitors. No the kind of place to search out the latest fashionable craft beers or gins, and all the better for that. There's karaoke on Saturday which doesn't overwhelm the bar. A dart board is through the back. A busy place, and rightly so.

Always make a point of going here for a pint If I'm up in Aberdeen overnight to watch the Dons. I usually stay in a hotel which is 2 minutes round the corner from this Pub. It Always has a good vibe about the place, staff and regulars are always friendly and although I'm not a regular myself I'm always made to feel welcome. Great Pub!!
