About This Pub
Ah, The Wig – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a hidden gem in Aberdeen, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this really inviting atmosphere that's perfect for settling in with a pint and some mates. The food steals the show, with people raving about the mac and cheese loaded with pulled pork or haggis and bacon, and those burgers that are apparently to die for – fresh, generous portions that leave you satisfied. Plus, the beer selection is spot on, whether you're grabbing something on tap or exploring their impressive rum collection. It's great for catching live sports too, with screens dotted around to keep things lively. On the flip side, it does seem a tad subdued sometimes, more of a relaxed cafe-bar feel now than the buzzing spot it might have been years ago, so if you're after a wild night, it might not quite hit the mark. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for an affordable, enjoyable evening out – I'd definitely pop in if you're in the area and fancy something straightforward and reliably good.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious, with standout dishes like mac and cheese with pulled pork or those hand-made burgers that are full of flavour.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of beers and rums, perfect for anyone looking to try something new.
-
The atmosphere is lovely and cosy, making it a great spot for a relaxed catch-up or enjoying live sports on the screens.
-
Service is top-notch and friendly, which really adds to the welcoming feel of the place.
-
It's affordably priced, so you can enjoy a proper meal and a drink without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
It can feel a bit quiet at times, more like a cafe bar these days rather than a lively pub hub.
-
Some say it's lost a bit of its old character, which might disappoint if you're expecting a traditional, bustling vibe.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the Wig we had it is on vouchers and decided to go in for a meal. And all I can say is their burgers are amazing and the service is some of the best I have had in a pub environment in Aberdeen. Would highly recommend it to anyone who loves burgers mac & cheese and fries to die for.
Came for a few pints and some food, good beer selection both on tap and in fridges. Food was excellent, hot dog topped with buffalo chicken and hot sauce. Very generous portions. All in was excellent and would recommend.
In ye olden days, we visited this pub whenever we visited Aberdeen, one of my friends I am here with got his nickname Mr Sick on a visit here, of course its changed a lot since those days now a sort of cafe bar. It has a lot of TVs so excellent to watch sports there. Apart from that quite a quiet place but with an excellent large window and a good setting at the start of the pedestrian precinct. The service was as you would expect.
