About This Pub
Ah, The Jugged Hare, it's one of those places that just feels like a proper haven in the heart of Victoria, doesn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars, always on hand with a smile and quick service that makes you feel right at home – think attentive hosts who keep your glass topped up and your meal just perfect. The food's a real treat too; those Sunday roasts and fish and chips come highly praised, all made with fresh, seasonal bits that leave you satisfied and smiling. And the setting? Blimey, it's in this grand old bank building with high ceilings and chandeliers that give it a bit of elegance without being stuffy, plus there's a nice garden for when the weather's on your side. It's brilliant for watching live sports or just unwinding with mates over a good selection of beers and drinks. On the downside, though, the menu's pretty standard pub fare, so it won't surprise you with anything groundbreaking, and that garden shutting at 9pm can feel a tad early if you're hoping to make a night of it. All in all, it's a solid choice for a bite and a bevvy – highly recommended if you're after a welcoming spot that's got the classics down pat, but maybe not if you're seeking something a bit more out there.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure you're well looked after – just like Jason, Nick, and Josh did in the reviews.
-
The food is spot on, with highlights like superb Sunday lunches, delicious fish and chips, and fresh seasonal ingredients that really hit the mark.
-
It's set in a stunning old bank building with a warm, stylish atmosphere, complete with high ceilings, chandeliers, and even a cosy garden area for a bit of outdoor relaxation.
-
They've got a great selection of beers, cocktails, and drinks, plus live sports on the TVs, making it perfect for catching the footy or enjoying a chilled evening.
Cons
-
The menu sticks to fairly typical pub classics, so if you're after something a bit more innovative or adventurous, it might not quite deliver that wow factor.
-
The outdoor garden area closes early at 9pm, which could put a dampener on longer summer evenings when you'd fancy lingering outside.

Great service from Jason and nick
Sunday lunch was incredible and hit the spot perfectly! Those parsnips!!! 😍
Watched the footy and loved my 3 hours in there
Lovely pub in an old bank building. Bar at the front with a large mezzanine floor overlooking and a comfortable dining area at the rear. To top it off, there’s a small garden area outside that is open until 9pm.
Good selection of beers and a fairly typical pub menu along with some very good sandwiches and great chips.
Within walking distance from our hotel in Kensington, excellent food and atmosphere, friendly service. We came for the fish and chips and they did not disapooint, local beer after sampling two choices. Delightful.
It's a great pub not too far from Victoria station and Theatre's. It's a nice pub to relax in and has a 4 TV screens to watch sporting events. It's nice and cosy in the winter. They have a good selection of beers, cocktails, spirits and wine. The staff are lovely so friendly and welcoming and the food is great here too. The Sunday roast here is amazing and well worth they money. They also have a beer garden if you want to sit outside. It is also a dog friendly pub. The new manager and staff in the pub are very attentive and friendly.
A great place to grab a pint and some delicious food! Super chill atmosphere.
Josh was very attentive and made sure we were never low on beverage or food. 🙂
