About This Pub
Ah, The Jolly Sailors – what a gem it is down in Pakefield! I've got to say, chatting about this place feels like sharing a good yarn with mates over a pint. The views out to the sea are just magical; whether you're nipping in for a quick lunch or settling in for the evening, it's hard not to feel that seaside buzz. The food really hits the spot too – think fresh, locally-sourced dishes that mix traditional favourites with a bit of flair, and at a fair price that won't break the bank. The staff are absolute stars, always popping over to make sure you're sorted, which adds to that homely feel. It's brilliant for families or if you're out with the dog, and the live music nights bring a nice energy without it getting too rowdy. On the flip side, do keep an eye on the kitchen hours, especially on Sundays when it wraps up early, and if you're heading there on a busy day, you might find yourself in a queue, so booking ahead could save the hassle. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone in or visiting Lowestoft – you'll leave with a smile, I reckon!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The stunning sea views are an absolute treat – it's like having your own slice of the Suffolk coast right there, perfect for a relaxing pint or meal.
-
The food is spot on, with fresh local ingredients in classic pub dishes and some modern twists; I especially love the fish and chips or a hearty pie.
-
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, ideal for families, dog walkers, or just catching up with mates over a pint of local ale.
-
Staff are really friendly and attentive, always checking if everything's alright and making you feel right at home.
-
Live music events add a fun vibe, showcasing local talent and creating a lively spot without it feeling overwhelming.
Cons
-
The kitchen shuts a bit early on Sundays, so if you're after a late lunch, you might need to plan ahead.
-
It can get quite busy at peak times, which might mean a wait for a table or that cosy spot by the window.

Went to watch Mark Anthony and Issac sing, had a lovely meal, great atmosphere in the bar, lovely looking out to the sea..👍😘
Visiting the area and after a walk by the beach we thought we would stop by The Jolly Sailor.
It was lunchtime and we was surprised by the relaxed atmosphere, the bar allowed and dogs and lovely fab views across the sea.
We ended up staying for lunch, both fish and chips and scampi were lovely, hot and delicious. 100% worth a visit, Thankyou.
Much more than just the stunning sea views!
The Jolly Sailors is perfectly located to make the most of its stunning sea and beach views, with an outside seating area ideal for dog walkers and those looking to relax by the coast.
Stepping inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a clean and well-maintained interior that immediately feels welcoming. The bar staff provide quick, friendly service, keeping things moving even during busy periods.
There’s a lively buzz, with diners clearly enjoying their meals in a relaxed setting. The menu offers a nice selection of reasonably priced dishes, catering to a variety of tastes without compromising on quality.
This is a professionally run establishment that knows its purpose: to provide a spot where guests can enjoy great food, efficient service, and breathtaking views. Everything feels well-organised and polished, making it a pleasure to visit. I’d definitely return!
Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Great staff, who made the time to check everything was alright, ask me if I would like another drink, desert etc - which not all staff do in some restaurants these days!
The food was freshly prepared and I enjoyed my Pie of the Day with vegetables and hand cut chips - despite the very soggy bottom due to it being a mince beef and veg pie.
I'd happily go back.
Really enjoyed my Fish and Chips with mushy peas as did my Mum and partner who swapped her mushy peas for some side salad which wasn't an issue. Good range of beers and ales. We ate in the bar area but there is also a restaurant. Quite reasonably priced. Good atmosphere for a Thursday afternoon, quite busy. Good sized car park opposite. We had a good view of the sea. There is a seating area outside which would be lovely in warmer weather. Good walks along the seafront.
